Have you noticed the giant leaps in AI models?
Hey everyone! Have you been keeping up-to-date with the latest generation of AI models? If you HAVEN'T, then I recommend checking them out - they are insane to be honest - I'm talking Claude Opus 4.5, Gemini 3.0, GPT 5.1 etc. Has huge implications for how we will work in the future. I'm just figuring out the best workflows for implementing these models in Fabric workflows, I'll share more of my thinking and research in the following weeks/ months, but I'm interested - have you been keeping up-to-date with the LLM updates? Have you been thinking about how to integrate into Fabric - let me know what you've found so far!

Do you mean the recent release of MCP from Microsoft Fabric? I saw a demo video by a MVP guy, I was not impressed, the guy also said ' maybe I had bad luck'. I don't know about MCP, but I have studied soft max used in LLM, it only takes texts and predicts next word, hence it won't understand DAX or relationship in semantic models. Maybe you can add another choice : following latest development, but not interested.

@Wirayudha Rohandi , I agree that the skillset are quite different, however I don't really buy into that we should keep the boundary. I used to be a PB Developer, it was so painful to run the ETL in Power Query, each time I made change in data itself, I have to wait 30-40 mins for the data model rerfresh to complete. This is simply a waste of my life. So when I learnt about Fabric, I knew I had to let go my job because ETL is at least 10X fasters in Spark notebook vs Power BI, plus other benefits. I know in large orgs, analysts and data engineers are typically two job families, but I wonder if that's the best approach. Imagine each time an analyst needs a new view or table, he has to wait for data engineer to generate it, how much waste is generated due to the waiting?
Current Open Job Listings mentioning Fabric
There's been a few questions/ discussions about future jobs within Fabric. We're beginning to see companies recruiting for Fabric roles... exciting! Here's a few I found: Lead Data Modeler - Microsoft Fabric Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric) Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric) GERMAN Microsoft Fabric Engineer (BELGIUM) Senior Consultant - Databricks and Microsoft Fabric Data & Analytics Engineer Principal and Senior consultant level Microsoft Fabric Data & Analytics Consultants I had the idea to create a video reviewing some of these job ads and picking out the common themes, to help people understand what they might need to focus on to get jobs in the future - what do you think of that concept? What you find that interesting? Let me know!

I have been looking for Fabric Engineer jobs in Belgium market, I notice all the ads with Fabric Engineer comes from IT staffing companies. The truth is many of them are not professional, they would ask for my cv, then ghosted me on LinkedIn. On the other hands, companies hiring BI Engineer or analytics engineer often mention Fabric skills.
Should I Accept an Internship Focused on Dynamics 365 and Power Platform if My Goal is Data Analytics?
Hi everyone, I’ve recently been offered an internship with a software and digitization company that helps organizations with digital transformation, software development, and tailored digital solutions. They have over 35 years of experience and nearly 300 employees across four global locations. Internship Role The internship I was offered would place me in their internal IT department, primarily focusing on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP and Power Platform. Here’s a summary of the tasks outlined in the job description: - Automating business processes using Power Automate. - Building dashboards in Power BI to visualize data insights. - Developing extensions for Business Central using plugins. My Concern While I’m excited about the opportunity to learn these platforms, my long-term goal is to transition into a data analytics or data engineering role, ideally using Microsoft Fabric for advanced analytics, data engineering, and visualizations. This role doesn’t seem heavily focused on data analytics, so I’m debating whether it would be the right step or if I should hold out for something more aligned with my career goals. Questions for the Community 1. Is Dynamics 365/Power Platform experience valuable for a future in data analytics? Could skills in Power BI and Power Automate transfer well if I move into a Fabric-focused role? 2. What specific skills or tools will I likely gain from this internship? How relevant are these skills for a future data analytics position? 3. Are there opportunities to develop data analytics skills within this role? For instance, will I have the chance to work on real data analysis projects, or will it be more focused on implementation and automation? 4. Transitioning from ERP-focused roles to analytics: Has anyone here moved from ERP/Power Platform work to data analytics, and if so, what was the learning curve like? 5. Should I wait for a more analytics-centered role? Given my long-term goals, would it make sense to keep searching, or could this internship still be a strong stepping stone?

I don't want to be pessimistic, but this sounds to be a senior job, why they are hiring an intern? Are there really PB developers who want to work as an intern? Also 300 employees around globe sounds suspicious to me. If they really have global operations, I would expect more employees.
Applying Azure data engineering jobs
I´m looking for work and got a call from a recruiter. The job is a Azure data engineering job, the client uses Data Factory, Synapse and Databricks among others (apparently Fabric in future too but that was not on req list). I´ve been now studying for DP-600 and preparing for the exam. I have also prior background in other data tools. I filled in a skill assesment form for the job and put most things to "no experience" or "1" for e.g. Synapse, which is true (on scale 1-5). The recruiter called me back saying that "hey, you know very much already and are experienced, just put like 3 or 4 there". I´m a bit hesitant but is the skills from e.g. Fabric Data Factory so transferrable that I can just put 3 or 4 on Azure Datafactory? For context, I´m a Finn and in my culture belittling one´s own skills is seen as a virtue. The recruiter was just laughing and said that if I was from some other culture I would have just put all 4s and 5s across the board :D

I had been in the same situation. I was recently asked if I had experience in Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks and I said: No, I have never used it. But now, after going through a few courses on Databricks and I realize that Azure Data Factory and Databricks are easy-peasy if one has experience in Spark notebook. However, I think one needs to understand how Apache Spark works and Azure Synapse. Both are not covered in DP-700 or DP-600, but it helps during job interviews.
