New Start
Hello all, my name is Jamietris or JJ for short. I have been in the distribution and logistics industry for 25 years. I have finished making others money and have decided to go into business for myself. I have experience in this field but I am clueless on how to start a business. I have the load board app have my EIN and am currently going through Zenbusiness to get my LLC. I was mostly confused about how to pay the drivers and myself. I have met several people in this business and know quite a few drivers in different areas. I do not want to fail and would love some help from my community.

Hi @Jamietris Sanders . Congrats on the new venture. As for the payment question...from my understanding (and I could be wrong), but I think most people either invoice the carrier each week for each load that dispatch services were provided for. Or another method would be sending agreements to a Factoring company. That way the Factoring company would pay it directly to the Freight Broker, who would then pay to the Carrier, who would then pay your company unless a factoring agreement is in place there as well. So...Shipper pays Freight Broker, who pays Carrier, who pays Dispatcher. Hope that helps.

End of the year story
By the end of 2025, i told my carriers that i was going to stop working until January, 5th, to have time to celebrate, and they all agreed. On December, 31st, at noon, one of them calls me to ask me to find some loads because he estes to start rolling the next day on January 1st. As you can understand, i said no. We had an agreement, it was the last day of the year, and u was far from being on the working moodπŸ˜‚. Maybe some of you will disagree with my answer, but you need to set some boundaries, even when we know our main tase is you need to keep them rolling, we need some respect, because we all have families, friends, we can get sick some time, so, they need to understand we are humans and we have our needs, mijo, of course, this is just my point of view. Tell me, do you think i did the right thing? What would you have done in that situation?

@Luis Felipe Cuesta You're absolutely correct to set boundaries. If not, they'll walk over you.
