@Briggs Schneider Yeah that's a big weight off the mind to let the dice dictate and have the players strategize to manage the aggro.

@Briggs Schneider I also just thought it puts the game into the situation of being a team effort of the GM as the narrator and the players vs. the world and problems of the tasks at hand. INTeresting!
From Scratch or Mod
I have a TTRPG combat design rolling around in my head that echoes a magic the gathering EDH or Commander game. I love the feeling of having combat tricks that can be used on different player's turns. I think it would be really fun to have a TTRPG where players have a turn where they can do abilities and actions that take a little longer but for things that can be done quickly can added to the turn stack which resolves like mtg. This means players can thwart or enhance what they want to have happen and have more control over what's happening when it's not their turn. I hate when players check out of the game when it's not their turn. Increasing engagement and cooperation like this I think would crush the scene tbh. If I wanted to publish this should I make my own TTRPG or adapt it to ones that already exist?

@Tyler Ezell interesting! Like another component like somatic, material, etc. Has an initiative score. That would make it tidier than what I was thinking

@Tim Oltjenbruns Ooo I'll take a peak at that. I think they're crazy for not trying to make a mtg based ttrpg but since Hasbro already owns DND maybe they don't have need to? Oh one shut down in 2021. Magic: Legends. I've been building my world up for years now with cultures inspired by ancient civs from Egypt, South America, and Shamanistic tradition advancing to the point of Aeitherpunk on one side and personal evolution through advanced mental and physical trainings on the other. OOO I could go on and on lol
Poll: Random or Curated Rewards?
Do you often roll random rewards? Do you curate them based on your players? Based on the location where they're found? A combination? I'm expecting a lot of overlap here, but I've been wrong before...

I try and curate the rewards based on their backstories and which player identifies with the current mission more. Or have something that directly prepares them for something in the future.
Favorite Genres to play?
I've done horror themes, political intrigue themes and traditional old school fantasy themes. I'm curious what people here enjoy playing? Noir, Low Magic, High Magic, Mystery, Horror, Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi, Western, Historical, etc. Tell me what you enjoy.

@Briggs Schneider Starfinder really opened up like that for me too. Making up entire character evolutions and civ history was fun! I think a hitchhikers guide esk game would crush.
