🇺🇸 English Expressions: Take Something by Storm
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “take something by storm.” 👉 It means to become extremely successful or popular very quickly, or to make a powerful impression on a place or group. When something takes a place by storm, it becomes incredibly popular almost overnight. Origin: The expression comes from the literal idea of capturing a place by force—taking a fortress or city by storm. Over time, it developed a figurative meaning: to enter a place or situation with tremendous energy and have a huge impact. ⚔️➡️🚀 Examples: • The new TV show took the country by storm. 📺 • His first song took the music world by storm. 🎵 • The new coffee shop took the neighborhood by storm. ☕ Drop your own sentence using “take something by storm” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 🤝

🇺🇸 English Expressions: Once in a Blue Moon 🌙💙
Hey everyone! 👋 Today’s expression is “once in a blue moon.” 👉 It means very rarely or almost never. If something happens once in a blue moon, it doesn’t happen very often. Origin: A blue moon is a rare astronomical event in which an additional full moon appears within a particular calendar period. Because it’s unusual, “once in a blue moon” came to describe something that happens very rarely. 🌕 Examples: • I eat fast food once in a blue moon. 🍔 • I drink soda once in a blue moon. 🥤 • I take a day off from the gym once in a blue moon. 🏋️‍♂️ Now it’s your turn! 💬 Drop your own sentence using “once in a blue moon” below 👇 WE LEARN FROM EACH OTHER! 🤝

Nadine and her husband were walking around their neighborhood one evening. They saw a man resting in a small boat near the shore. Nadine's husband asked, " are there any crocodiles here?" and the man smiled and said," You see one once in a blue moon." This is a true story. I couldn't believe that Americans use idioms so often.
