@Ace Amelia FAB! :)
UK Actor
Hey, I'm Ace! I'm based in the UK. My background is in stage acting, I've done a few bits and pieces of film and TV and I LOVE it, I want to be doing more. I used to write and make films with my brother when we were growing up, but I haven't really done anything of substance like that for a while. I've currently got: - A working script for a short that I've tried and failed to film - An idea for a longer film to showcase my partner who is also an actor And I'd love to get my head around making something where I could showcase myself, but I'm struggling to get a good idea of what story would work best. I'm hoping this course might spark some ideas. At the end of the day, I just love this medium and what we can make with it. I really enjoy being in front of the camera, and I'm so at home in the editing suite. I just need to bump up the ideas and production side a bit more!

The Lie Assignment
I have actually been through many of the Lottery Systems! Acting - numerous casting director workshops adding up to thousands of pounds, while it got me on radars and I got castings from them very rarely was it for a part that I REALLY wanted to play. Writing - about 5 or 6 screenwriting/funding competitions, the cost was far less BUT it took up big chunks of my time a few weeks! Polishing the script, pitch decks etc. Biggest take away, keep it simple and don't wait for the gatekeepers to give permission.

@Aj Rome I imagine there are more similarities than not. And re film funding competitions, some that I entered were based in the US. But I did apply to the BFI which there's no way I would now knowing what I now know! I'm happy to chat through my experience of Lottery systems. I should add that most of my experiences are from an acting pov. :)
The Roadmap assignment
I absolutely will follow this. I have gone a part of the way with my short film, but came across many different stumbling blocks. AND they have been incredible teachers. Honestly my biggest roadblock is a. finding a story that others will want to hear/see b. re. a. believing I have something worthwhile to tell for people other than myself (!) and c. that crew will want to be involved. Because honestly if I have that belief in ideas that I have then I know I will do whatever is necessary to make this. I am a very determined person it is only lack of self-belief that gets in my way... I am getting better at it but there's still a few gremlins hanging around me!
