DEFINITELY the 1st one - the others seem so "quiet desperation"ish, you want to present the woman (or man) as someone who is OPEN to planning for their life after 70 - she seems tentatively HOPEFUL, which is the best place to start, it's visually and literally saying that you don't have to despair. I'm almost 72 and living my best life in San Miguel de Allende, MX, so there are a lot of older expat single women here - so many of them are open and happy, and hanging out all the time. Blessed to live here (though I'm not alone).
Why YouTube actually?
I’m curious, especially for those of us starting YouTube later in life. What made you start your YouTube channel in the first place? I tried FB and IG and TikTok but none of these speaks to me. I just dont feel it. Additional for my purpose i think search engine maschine where people come asking questions I have answers to is better for my customer journey and monetisation later on. Your / my job is to be consistent and post videos so potential " customers" find you. How about you? Was it the wish to share your experience, help others, build income, create something of your own, or something that’s harder to put into words, journaling? I’ve noticed that the reason we start, often shapes how we show up on YouTube later, including how we think about content and monetisation , sometimes without us even realising it. I’d really love to hear what your original motivation was.

Great question! Ok, so I'm almost 72 and just started my YouTube channel a few months ago. My main reason is to use YouTube as a way to sell my online pre-recorded video, TEXTURE PAINTING - MASTER CLASS (available streaming on Thinkific). It's a real niche in the art world, painting with plaster or adding it to your painting practice. I have all the tips & tricks in my 3+ hour video, which I launched over a year ago and is sitting dead in the water. I realized it's just too good, too comprehensive and cost me too much to just let it die, so I'm on a mission to find my peeps, my tribe, my art lovers and point them to it ($99, lifetime access). I've been teaching this for over 10 years and have sold-out classes here in San Miguel de Allende, MX, so I'm a very seasoned teacher and artist, and want to present myself that way. I see my age and experience as a PLUS, an upbeat voice that encourages experimentation after you learn the basic techniques. I hired a consultant for a few months who REALLY helped me get started. We narrowed it down to FB (I have 3000 friends), Instagram and YouTube. I've done 2 long-form "Watch Me Paint" videos so far, and a lot of reels and shorts. I'm aiming for 2 Long form YouTube videos/month and 2 FB/Insta reels/week. That's all I have time for, with a busy teaching schedule, my own painting for my upcoming gallery exhibition, and a full life here in Mexico! Wish me luck! The 2 "WATCH ME PAINT" videos are on my channel, painting in real time with very relaxing music in the background. Check them out! @janedilldesign https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caxoZyMShi4 You can also see the 3 min. @Mike Bayer LOVE YOU! I found you while scrolling and you turned me on to ALEXA! She's my ad hoc mentor at the moment, and has taught me so much. But YOU are the elder "voice" I need to hear (I'm 72 and just starting). I love how you are such a comfort to us newbies, and present yourself in such a relaxed manner, I'm hoping to adopt that! Keep up the good work! @janedilldesign

Happy New Year from Mexico! I've just begun my YouTube journey, it's all up from here! Wishing us all the BEST year yet! Feliz Año Nuevo!
AI gave me a reality check!
On day 2 of the challenge I quickly realized why my videos were getting very few views and no engagement. My channel name and videos aren’t specific enough. I know that there is an ideal audience for my content, but my brain doesn’t always cooperate with my intention, and my voice has got a mind of it’s own!! Today, I plugged in transcripts from the 7 videos I’ve posted to date and asked AI why I’m not having success. The answer was long, and honestly a bit upsetting to read. My struggle with limiting beliefs about my own value and the resulting procrastination is hindering my ability to do the work to make my channel better. I will keep pushing past these thoughts and take action with the accountability provided by Alexa’s creator boost challenge and this wonderful community. My next video will be released tonight and I’ll keep working on it from there so others can watch my transformation happen. Sending love and positive thoughts to you all😊 Jen

@Eddi Pinegar - yes, when I do my painting videos, of often "wing it" as well. It always sounds more natural and spontaneous - and that comes with knowing what you're doing! If you're making a cooking video, you KNOW how to cook and how to describe what you're doing - it gives you more of a voice of authority, and one of "talking to a friend", which is the holy grail! Good luck!
Second Video Post
Hello All! Thanks again for the last video comments and feedback. I just posted my second video with the youtube growth niche and again just wanted to hear feedback on it. I posted yesterday about 6pm est. So far at 3 views (160 impressions .6% CTR, so hoping this is just the early stages since I changed the niche) and I am running a test on thumbnail. I'm currently working on organize my thoughts and presenting them clearly - at least that something I feel I need to get better at. Any feedback is appreciated! Thank you again and so glad for this community because sometimes working on this alone is frustrating! Appreciate it: https://youtu.be/ygdzZusAp94

LOVED your video!! And you have so much of the #1 currency on YouTube: AUTHENTICITY! That cuts through everything and really makes people want to watch to the end. I, too, am just beginning my YouTube journey (at 71) - my sole purpose is to sell my already recorded online art course in Texture Painting. It's been out for over a year, and currently "dead in the water". It's very "niche", so I'm doing a push to really promote it, planning for BF/CM and holiday sales, taking free seminars on this - it's all overwhelming!! But I like your philosophy of biting off one chunk at a time. I, too, freeze up in front of a camera, but thanks to my amazing videographer and lots of editing & B-roll (which I taught myself), I look surprisingly chill in the online course! Now, I have to figure out how to do it by myself in my studio for YouTube - daunting! Here's a free intro, if you're interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XB4EKhAOH8&t=2s Keep up the good work!
