Great question! Ok, so I'm almost 72 and just started my YouTube channel a few months ago. My main reason is to use YouTube as a way to sell my online pre-recorded video, TEXTURE PAINTING - MASTER CLASS (available streaming on Thinkific). It's a real niche in the art world, painting with plaster or adding it to your painting practice. I have all the tips & tricks in my 3+ hour video, which I launched over a year ago and is sitting dead in the water. I realized it's just too good, too comprehensive and cost me too much to just let it die, so I'm on a mission to find my peeps, my tribe, my art lovers and point them to it ($99, lifetime access). I've been teaching this for over 10 years and have sold-out classes here in San Miguel de Allende, MX, so I'm a very seasoned teacher and artist, and want to present myself that way. I see my age and experience as a PLUS, an upbeat voice that encourages experimentation after you learn the basic techniques. I hired a consultant for a few months who REALLY helped me get started. We narrowed it down to FB (I have 3000 friends), Instagram and YouTube. I've done 2 long-form "Watch Me Paint" videos so far, and a lot of reels and shorts. I'm aiming for 2 Long form YouTube videos/month and 2 FB/Insta reels/week. That's all I have time for, with a busy teaching schedule, my own painting for my upcoming gallery exhibition, and a full life here in Mexico! Wish me luck! The 2 "WATCH ME PAINT" videos are on my channel, painting in real time with very relaxing music in the background.
