The Dark Side of Virality — A Breakdown Worth Your Time
Hey friends — as many of you know I used to create articles like this to share research and video breakdowns. It's been a while, and I want to acknowledge that I've missed doing so. Life has a way of pulling us in different directions — and in the winter with snow and taxes, it's harder to keep up. When I watched this video though, I felt I had to share it. The video is by Chris Do of The Futur, released March 24, 2026. It's called **"The Content Strategy Nobody Is Talking About (But Should Be)"** 👉 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaDK_zVy1Cc --- **🤔 The Central Question** Chris starts with a central question: *"If anyone can go viral... should you?"* He then makes a compelling case that virality is actually a trap. **If you DO go viral:** You enter the **Validation Loop** — looking outside yourself for proof you're doing something worthwhile, constantly needing to repeat it. **If you DON'T go viral again:** Motivation tanks, self-worth takes a hit, burnout follows, and eventually you quit. --- **🚨 The Four Problems With Chasing Virality** **1️⃣ The Seduction** — Platforms never tell you how to go viral. It's intentionally opaque. So we hand our emotional well-being over to algorithms and gurus who are also just guessing. **2️⃣ The Addiction** — The platform hooks you like a dealer with a sample. The cruel twist: *the day before your post went viral, you were happy making progress.* After going viral, normal progress never feels good enough again. **3️⃣ The Prison** — Go viral doing something specific and that thing becomes your cage. People expect it every time. When you try to return to something more authentic, the audience punishes you: *"This isn't what we followed you for."* **4️⃣ The Awakening** — Followers don't equal community. VidCon invited major TikTokers with millions of followers to speak. Rooms built for 500–800 people had 20–30 seats filled. One creator with 1.3 million followers held a meet-and-greet. Nobody came.

@George Benson being intentional is an ongoing process and doesn’t work without self-awareness which is also something I believe we have to work on every day. The right path is not always the easy one, but I choose it every day and do my best to stay on it.

@George Benson it does make sense. I have learned a lot from my teenaged kids who have very strong opinions and always question why they have to do things! Learning from the next generation is as important as keeping the skills and unique qualities of our own upbringing.
Day 8 Done ✔️
I needed a change of scenery to get this done so I went to a public library. I hope to record this video and have it posted by Friday. Thanks again for the faith and encouragement @Jaye Brunner @Dr. Saundra Stancil @Eddi Pinegar @Adam Tinkoff @Dajana K. @Ricardo Solomons @Cat PInegar

@Jaye Brunner I’m glad you put that out there! My brain doesn’t do anything at surface level. When I read something my brain always has a related question I have to research before continuing with what I was reading. I’ve spent years trying to be disciplined and ignore that urge - but I’m beginning to embrace my “quirks” and give myself grace. I’ve set a goal to complete the challenge this month - so watch this space!

Status Update: First Video via Creator Breakthrough Series Challenge
As I was editing the video, which was so exciting for me, I discovered a major flaw! I discovered that I left out a major gift item in my gift basket. Sooo... I stopped editing and planned my strategy to insert the gift item. That was not working. Slightly disappointed, I decided to open it up and redesign it, including filming it of course. This happens often in designing in general and in gift basket design so this is a perfect lesson to film for my audience. They need to know everything will not be perfect and what to do to correct a mistake. Additionally, I am in Holy Week and Resurrection honoring mode🙏🏾🙌🏾✝️. It has been a personal tradition, so I pause (selah) to honor this period and this Holiday. I wanted to rush and get the editing done, publish, and share with you all; but it is not ready. And this is not the time to rush, among other life happenings. If it is not finished in time for this holiday (technically, it is too late), I will keep it for next year and start to plan my design for the next holiday--Mother's Day among other videos. I also do not want this to stunt my progress with the challenge, so I will continue. Just wanted to give you an update. And will see me in the comments of your posts here as I move on and finish my start on Day 12. Sounds like you are making this challenge your own, as we all are. Learning so much, and making our own decisions for our channels. When I read your posts I can feel the clarity on your vision growing. Enjoy this holiday, tradition and your belief is everything.😊
Day 27
Today was a good one. Day 27 really got me thinking about something I haven’t paid enough attention to yet… the people on the other side of the screen. when I recieve a comment, I’d usually just say “thanks” and move on. Not because I didn’t care, just because I didn’t really see it as part of the process yet. But these last few lessons shifted that. This isn’t just about posting videos… it’s about building connection. Actually talking with people. Asking questions. Letting them be part of what we’re creating instead of just watching it. And the timing of this lesson couldn’t have been better… Today was also our first live event — an hour-long meditation. And it went really well. There’s something different about being live. It’s not just content anymore… it feels like practice, like real people showing up together in the moment. I’m starting to see… this isn’t just a YouTube channel. This can actually become a space where people show up, practice, ask questions, and grow together. Still very early. Not a ton of comments yet.But I can see how doing this right from the beginning could change everything. So moving forward, I’m going to be a lot more intentional: Not just replying… but connecting. Not just posting… but inviting people in. Thanks for reading guys. @Cat PInegar @Dr. Saundra Stancil @Jenny Sharratt @Jaye Brunner @Dajana K. https://www.youtube.com/live/iPTAq1gSXF0?si=6ktmwOSUicS8teL0 Here is a link to the event 60 min meditation. starts off funny cuz I've never done this before lol. every morning at 5am Texas time.

Congrats on your first live @Eddi Pinegar. Did you get any people drop in while you were live? I always get such a buzz when someone leaves a comment on my videos and try to respond thoughtfully as trust building is a priority for this stage of my YouTube journey.

@Eddi Pinegar 7 people is amazing for your first live. I’m happy for you😊
Days 3,4,5,6.
Days 3–5 were pretty simple on my end. I moved through the lessons, read everything carefully, and double checked that what I had already put together still felt aligned. Day 6 was a different experience. It asked for a level of clarity that you don’t always realize you’re missing until you’re actually asked to articulate it. What felt clear in my head needed more refinement when I put it into words. I’m really grateful for that part of the process, because now everything feels much more solid. I can see how it all fits together in a way that feels clear and steady. @Eddi Pinegar @Dr. Saundra Stancil @Jenny Sharratt @Dajana K. @Jaye Brunner
