Mandatory Monday
In Maui I hosted this early morning thing where I collected a few people together at 7am and we all said something we are grateful for, and something we want to accomplish this week I called it Mandatory Monday - it was 100% voluntary So, what are you grateful for and what is something you want to accomplish this week?

Grateful for my yard, being able to hire help to rip out all of the blackberries and ivy, and the super cute eastern redbud tree that the city just planted for me in front of my house. I’m STUPID excited about this cute tree and the improved curb appeal (from the sidewalk they fixed and tree they removed). It’s the little things. Goal for this week: get two clients completely onboarded so I can fully plug in with the family we have coming to visit this weekend. Oh, and Thursday I hope to try out a new pressure washer I ordered. 😎
Don’t be lazy
Always take the stairs. Hit the gym or exercise at least 4 to 5 days a week. Post here for daily accountability.

@Clint Warren hmmm, I’m not sure if I can physically do a 75 hard right now (upcoming surgery & I can’t make it worse), but I am down to try to find a way to make it work! Might defeat the purpose since modifying is basically sacrilege …
What’s the Best Personality Test for Teams?
I’m organizing a corporate retreat in July and would appreciate any feedback y’all might have on the most engaging assessment for teams to understand each others preferences in communication styles and strengths. I’ll select one and lead a session that leverages the assessment they’ve completed prior to the event. I’ve used the following personally but would love to hear of any others you’d recommend!

StrengthsFinders was great, albeit back in my corporate America days. I’m not sure how popular it is now, but it was really great for not only understanding your own strengths, but really seeing WHY it is beneficial to have a variety of others’ strengths to leverage on the team. And a fun/positive side effect was that people became quite proud in their unique strengths, it’s neat to watch them blossom like that. Almost reminds me of an early ‘zone of genius’ self-discovery. Making each person a certificate with their top 5 and then framing it / giving it to them was a nice touch in a team meeting/offsite as well. https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/en/252137/home.aspx https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/en/253715/34-cliftonstrengths-themes.aspx

@Alexander Felice thank you - I have heard that the iPhone camera is good, I can definitely stand to learn more about its functionality! I also want to learn more about traditional cameras, I think they are really neat.

The market today
Stock market is dropping this week. Though it doesn't personally affect me much, tariffs might affect Miss Kate's quilt shop but nothing tangible yet and obviously there is a lot of money to be made in the chaos. It also creates a lot of fear and lost wealth Days like today is why I'm so focused on trying to build a super asymmetric portfolio: 1. Super low risk cash flow investments (low LTV real estate) 2. Small percentage of portfolio (10%) exposed to outsized tail risks 3. Make YouTube videos, take pictures, touch grass, don't think about investing Curious what everyone's investing strategy is in 2025?

@Alexander Felice I am only in the stock market with the few $ I have left from my days in corporate America, and what I have played around with from my time exploring DRIP investing (which still makes me smile, it's pretty fun). Oh, and the inheritance money from my mom that will be transferred over to me soon. I much prefer real estate myself, but still can’t help but wonder what (if anything) I should do with the little I have in there. I’ve been thinking it might be an even better time to help others self-direct their 401ks into real estate-backed notes or PML opportunities. With the current market and the volatility we’re seeing, it's probably not a tough sell and it can be such a win-win. It’s something I have been really aligned with (from my transition from corporate into real estate) and I think a lot of people are open to safer, more tangible alternatives right now.

@Alexander Felice Yeah! It actually started because I kept hearing the same thing over and over at meetups - investors asking me/each other, “Do you know a good bookkeeper who really gets real estate?” And as an investor myself, I totally got the struggle. A lot of bookkeepers are great at general accounting, but they don’t speak the real estate language or tailor things to the strategies we actually use. Funny enough, my career actually started in accounting - way back in the day at Home Depot (and college). I realized I could combine my background/skills with my passion for real estate and be a real resource for other investors. So now I run a boutique bookkeeping company that specializes in real estate. We customize everything based on the investor’s strategy - whether it’s long-term holds, flips, BRRRRs, mid-term rentals, creative deals - you name it. We also work closely with our clients’ CPAs to keep everything tax-strategy-ready and super clean. The goal is to give investors clarity so they can make smart moves and actually use their numbers to grow. It is amazingly gratifying!
