Small Space Growers: Show Your Setup
This one's for everyone growing in a closet, spare room, bathroom, garage, or apartment corner. Small space growing is how most of us started. Some of the most creative setups I've seen come from growers with limited space. I want to see: - Your grow area (closet, tent, shelf, tub) - - Your humidity solution - - Your lighting setup - - Any clever hacks you've figured out What works well in small spaces: - Martha tents (wire shelving + greenhouse cover) -- $40-60 - - Shotgun fruiting chambers for 1-5 blocks - - Automated misting with a timer and reptile fogger - - Grow tents repurposed for mushrooms Drop your photos and describe your setup.

Got a Question? This Is the Place
This is the Ask Michael category. If you've got a question about growing mushrooms, running a farm, dialing in your process, or anything else, post it here. I read every single post and I'll get back to you. No question is too basic and no question is too advanced. I've probably run into it myself at some point. This community works best when people aren't afraid to ask. So ask.

How often should you refresh liquid mycelium cultures? I stir daily but need to know when to start a new jar to keep my mycelium at optimal health

I have a 25lb bag of wheat bran that is almost a year old. Should I use it or just throw it out since it’s past its prime
First Harvest Wins. Let's See Them.
This is where you post your wins. First flush, biggest cluster, cleanest block, whatever you're proud of. Drop it here. I want to see what you're growing. Doesn't matter if it's your first bag or your hundredth. Every harvest is worth celebrating. Photos encouraged. Let's fill this up.

Sunday Check In. How's Everyone Doing?
Happy Sunday everyone. We've had a ton of new members join this week and I want to make sure everyone feels welcome. If you haven't introduced yourself yet, go drop a post in Introduce Yourself. Tell us what you're growing or what you want to grow. For the growers already in here, what are you working on this weekend? Inoculating, harvesting, building out your space? Drop it below. Also wanted to share this. A while back FOX 10 came out to the farm and did a whole segment on our lab and grow operation. If you want to see how Southwest Mushrooms runs behind the scenes, check it out: And don't forget, Weekly Q&A is tomorrow at 5pm Phoenix time. Bring your questions, I'll be live answering everything.

Great video! Autoclaving milo grain today for inoculation tomorrow.
Show Us Your Worst Contamination Photo
No judgment zone. Let's see your contamination hall of shame. I'll go first: in my second year of growing, I lost an entire rack of 50 shiitake blocks to green mold because my sterilizer wasn't holding pressure. Didn't realize the gasket had a slow leak. 50 blocks, all green within a week. Every grower has contamination stories. The difference between growers who succeed and growers who quit is whether you learn from it. Post your worst contamination photos below. Bonus points if you can tell us: 1. What went wrong 2. 2. How you figured it out 3. 3. What you changed Let's turn our failures into lessons for the whole community.

@Elijah Woods 2.5 hours at 17psi. I let them cool in the autoclave overnight. I must have introduced the mold during the transfer of grain spawn into the substrate. Thought I did everything right
