Adjust your focus
I think for too long, I've been focused on the wrong thing. I am just now beginning to adjust my focus. I've always fixated on what hell is, this lake of unquenchable fire, darkness, fear, gnashing of teeth, pain, despair, etc. What I've been missing this whole time, is the worst part. Separation from God. I'm beginning to understand that, yes, all of that stuff is bad, but God and being with him is SO good that being separated from him IS the worst part.

Such a great point, Ryan. I used to view sin in a similar way, seeing God’s law as just a list of things I wasn’t allowed to do, almost as if it was about keeping God happy with me. Now I realize the real issue is the separation it creates between God and us, and that’s worse than anything.
