One of my struggles is with feeling an emotion. With some exploration (and a wheel of feelings), I can usually identify what the feeling is, but I don't think I really know what it is to lean into it and feel that emotion. Is this something others do naturally?

As I'm reflecting on values, Universalism and Security seem like they're tied pretty closely together. What can you tell me about the difference between them?
One month check in
Hello! We are now one month through the course. Congratulations on the work you have put in so far. I am curious about your reflections. What have been your primary takeaways? How do you feel you have grown? Is there anything you would like to be different about the course material or structure? It’s been a pleasure to be a part of your path and I look forward to the months to come.

I am noticing more about what sensations I am feeling than the story-telling around the emotion. This has been helpful in deciding what action to take and pull myself out of the rumination. I've grown in that awareness of emotion. If I were to change anything about the structure, I'd like to have the materials for the next week earlier, so I can look them over and feel prepared for skills lab on Monday. I'm really enjoying the course so far. This is all making a lot of sense to me.💡
Midday group coaching cancelled
Hello everyone! I unfortunately must cancel the midday group coaching for today Feb 19. I just had the aura of a migraine set in and have limited vision. Usually symptoms subside after 4 hours or so. I will assess how I’m doing as the day progresses and will update you all on the evening session. Thank you for your understanding. Austin

If you end up going ahead with the evening session, I will try to join but may be late. I hope you're feeling better!
Successful Week 1!
I'm so excited to share how I applied what I learned this week to real life. Reflecting on what came up in skills lab & group coaching, I made an effort to come to a situation with an open mind & curiosity rather than defensiveness. I spent the day collecting some data to compare how different changes would impact a project. I sent out my findings to 3 executives: My boss (VP), her boss (Pres), and his boss (Exec President). Exec P immediately asked questions that were already answered in the report I sent. Rather than assume she just didn't read it closely, I examined how I worded that information and responded something like, here on line x I wrote this, would it be more clear if I reworded that? She responded apologetically that she had not read that line and asked if my overall conclusion was xyz, to which I replied 'yes, exactly' and suggested some further data I planned to collect because I didn't feel my approach was representative of real customer data. Pres came to my desk later and suggested that because I did more work than they initially asked, he thinks she was confused with my report. Without bringing my defensiveness because I worked hard all day & still thought the information was valuable, I acknowledged that it was more than what was asked to do and explained why I collected the other data. I asked if he thought it was completely useless or if it was helpful that I showed those things made no impact on the project. He then agreed it was useful to have data to back up what we suspected and I then explained what other data I planned to collect that will more accurately illustrate the comparison between how it works now and the proposed change. Then I asked if he thought that was a better approach and he gave feedback on what he liked about my idea and what he thought I should change and why. I told him that was a great idea and I would send out the new information in the morning. He thanked me for my hard work and the extra effort I put into making sure the project was a success & he looked forward to hearing what I discover. This is 1000% more positive interaction. It did not end up in arguments. I left feeling my day was not a waste and I'm motivated to redo my data collection and not dreading starting over. 10/10 interaction with both difficult bosses & my boss (VP) said I must teach her my new ways.

@Austin Duncan Maybe more safety that usual, but I still had some anxiety. Especially when Exec Pres started talking slow and it felt condescending. I just had to be brave and try to respond in a different way.

But wait, there's MORE! Today, our developer sent an email with what he's been working on and asked how I wanted something done. I said I actually didn't recommend we do it and he replied that Exec Pres requested it. I then replied that I understand that she requested it, but I didn't agree, so I wanted VP and Pres to weigh in because I have ideas on how we can make it work, but I am not convinced we should even do it. Pres came over with an idea that I didn't like but instead of shooting him down, I asked questions. What makes this feature different than this one we already have? If we're going to do something so similar, we should just modify this thing we already have. He explained how people could use it and I said Ok, I think we should pull that part out and make it an entirely new feature. It's not kind of this one or kind of the other one; it's entirely unique and this is how it would work. He loved it and went off to convince Exec Pres that we have the perfect solution. What's funny, is that when he came over to say he wanted to talk about that email, I turned around to give him my full attention and he said wait, I'm going to stand over here so you can't hit me. LOL
Intro
Hi, I'm Jacqui. I’m here because I want to learn more about myself. I’ve been working on discovering what I like and what I want in my life, which may sound absurd, but I often follow the path I think I should be on and I'm finding that is often dictated by what someone else wants. I'm looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you. I’m excited to be part of this group and hear everyone’s experiences. Thanks for having me.
