Practice Makes Progress...We Don't Need Perfection
Here's one insight from this week’s Practice Skill Drill. Your child keeps growing, and every new stage brings: -new challenges -new responsibilities -and new skills that need to be practiced You don't have to keep playing catch-up. Each week inside the Parenting Practice Gym, we proactively prepare for the next stage of your child's development so you don't feel like you're falling behind at each birthday, graduation, or growth spurt. Save yourself the headache of freestyle parenting. Learn from other parents who've already navigated your child's next stage.

@Devin Trent one significant time I remember. After being an absent parent most of my children childhood. My oldest son was laying in bed, by this time life was good, I was more present and aware. Anyway he was sick. He laid there until I went to him and asked was he feeling alright? He told me he wasn’t feeling good. Right then, that sentence made me feel so far behind. Why you ask? I’ll tell you why. Because although I was now present aware and active. I was absent so long that I was not his first choice. He choose to be sick alone. I thought of all the times he was sick as a child needing me and I was not there. He soothed himself so long that reaching out wasn’t even a thought. Wow, I missed all that. Did I catch up?…No, impossible!!! But I did ensure I wouldn’t fall no further behind 💞
Soft men Versus Resilient Men
Peace, Love, and Progress Proactive Parent Tribe, so I know this brother right'chere is controversial. At the same time, I feel he is spot on in this particular clip. Hence my question for us and moms with young men, how do we help to cultivate that inner dog, that inner resilience, that inner toughness, that I personally feel that only man can instill in another man. Would love to know your thoughts @Devin Trent @Devin Trent and everyone who is moved to chime in. Thank you in advance. https://youtube.com/shorts/hwEJEPd3Ir8?si=3wjYiEszC-i4-KWQ

@Ashley Jasper Styles yes anger released don’t make you a better athlete. Focus, commitment and a team spirit does. Aggression is for bullies

@Ashley Jasper Styles I created walls for my children too. Walls they had to face and figure out how! I did not rescue for the sake of rescuing. I don’t practice everything I study but I do gain knowledge. The rites of passage I’d give a hard pass to. Because I don’t think I have to sacrifice my child’s life to show them that they’re a man or a woman because if they don’t beat the bear if the bear kills them that means they wasn’t a man no that just mean they couldn’t defeat the bear so I’m not gonna do that to my child. I would never let my child coming up against the Bear or getting all these cuts and stab wounds be what determines their manhood.
You ever been too tired to keep your word as parent?
I've listened to many parents over the years and noticed something you might relate to. Sometimes, after a long day of work, many parents just don't feel like it. And that's what they say... "I just don't feel like it." Have you ever said that? This could be not doing something fun like play outside with their kid. Or this could also look like not enforcing a boundary. What example do you think that sets for a child? What are the long-term & short-term consequences for not doing what you said you would do?

It’s ok to change my mind sometimes as long as I tell them something other than I don’t feel like it, an honest I’m tired baby maybe tomorrow will not crush them. It’s actually great for character building and boundaries. Everything we plan don’t always happen is a very good lesson to learn early if awareness regulation and repair are taught also💚🩵💛
When was the last time you learned something new?
Their is a high probability you learned that new thing from another person. Even if you did self-study...the study material was produced through another person who: - wrote the book - made the Youtube video - gave the talk from stage or online Nobody knows everything, so we must learn from others. No one can truly say, "I'm self made" Because the truth is we're all community made. If you know that you don't know everything and you're open to learning something new... Then I invite you to The Proactive Parent Path™ It's an 8-week cohort to better prepare kids for the real world. Tap here for all the details.

How do you see yourself as a parent?
I've seen a pattern over the last 38 years. That pattern is this... Many people who struggle in life are often lacking a positive self-image Notice I said many...not all Many people who struggle in life today often grew up with parents who had a negative self-image also. Those parents couldn't give their kids something that they didn't have themselves. The kids lack confidence because the parents lack confidence The kids lack courage because the parents lack courage And the parents lacked courage because they had no one to encourage them So my question to you is... How do you see yourself as a parent? What example are you setting for you child to follow? --- The first step to improving self...is to be self-aware. The second step is to desire better for yourself/child. The third step is to be humble and accept the truth...that you don't know everything. The community you grew up in might not have had people who encouraged you...but now you're an adult with the power to choose your community. I'm glad you've chosen to be a part of this community...you're in the right place 😊

I’ve evolved to a pretty good parent. Started off as a terrible parent. Hard work and facing my truths and the blueprint behind my behavior. I began to grow into a better parent. I will never be perfect but I strive for perfection everyday. I will present a better version of myself everyday…GROWTH💯💪🏽💞
