April 2025 Skate Challenge
Creating a little space here for some intentional skate work next month. This includes: -Studying/watching tutorials/comprehending and breaking down moves -Practicing on or off skates -Practicing skate adjacent skills such as choreo and timing -Skatenance (skate maintenance) -strength and balance exercises -stretching -Rest and recovery days -logging time/activity, tracking and recording The goal is to do these things with consistency Consistency leads to growth. I like the idea of posting regularly for accountability, but also know that sometimes you just don't have the bandwidth to post every day. Maybe you come back here and post once a week about what you did. Whichever works. I hope some of y'all will join me in this April challenge, and share what you're working on throughout the month. I know the end of the challenge will bring many lessons I'd love to hear about.

Advice from other thicc thigh skaters?!
I think I am having problems getting crossovers (all versions) to work for me because of my thicc thighs... which I am FINE with BTW (not looking for advice on how to change them). I AM looking for advice on how to make my crossovers fluid and not trip over my own feet because I can't make my legs into as big an X as the slim folks.
Does This Help My Small Space Skaters?
I made a video showing some small space moves you can do or some variation of them for all my living room rollers. Click here to watch the small space drills video in the classroom <-- Btw I measured a 4x4 space for this. I had a few say these are too advanced ๐Ÿ˜† So I'm not sure if this is actually useful to yall. Just lmk.

@Toi MissToi I really like the idea of a glossary on within this platform to make it quick & easy to reference what other folks are talking about!
How Do You Learn From The Courses?๐Ÿค”
I am curious how everyone approaches learning from the courses here. 1. Are you standing in your skates, staring at your phone, trying to follow a tutorial? 2. Do you watch it in your free time and try to remember later? 3. Would it be better for me to do my lessons vertically or horizontally? 4. Do you want the back angle so it's easier to follow? 5. What if I did a horizontal view with side-by-side front and back angles? 6. Do you prefer the voice over with zooms and freezes or the miced up teaching straight to camera style? I know this is quite a few questions ๐Ÿ˜‚ but help me help you! Answer whatever questions you feel the strongest about, or all of them if you feel like it. I'll be reading the comments and trying to improve my upcoming course content in this format.

TY for asking this Q @Knejie Allen ! 1. I sit down and watch on my phone a few times, then put the phone down and get up and try it. Phone is nearby for a check-in but I don't have it in hand when practicing. 2. I scan thru what's available and decide later what I want to practice - bookmark on YouTube. 3. Either works for me, but I think horizontal would be better if you do multi-angles or show a diagram what edges I should be on. 4. Back angle = yes 5. Front & back side-by-side = YES! 6. No preference on style, other than I really like the drills. I like small bites to pick out and do in repetition. I practice in my garage (I think the broom & rake make it count as a garage-garage.๐Ÿ˜†). I added a space heater and a $10 disco light ball to keep my vibes roller rink-adjacent. And I always play music. Here I am doing the tightrope drill!

@Isabel Athina Mitzen This is the one I got. $10 was an easy sell for me. It's a mood for sure!
