Finally Landed a Remote Gig
Hello everyone, I’m happy to say I was able to land a full time remote job! It was a long journey, filled with ambiguity and for myself had quite a bit of risk involved. I left my job a few months before landing my remote job. I was stuck in a job I hated in a city that I couldn’t justify the high cost and low value for. So in my case necessity was the mother of invention, but I don’t suggest taking the same route. It’s still early days for myself, but I am starting to see a way out. If anything at least a little breathing room to build the life that I want. I’m hoping in the coming months things will start to turn in my favor, just keeping my head down while having a greater vision in mind. We’re all on the same journey, so I hope your time will come as well!

Congrats!
Long term stay suggestions in Vietnam and Malaysia?
I'm planning to be completely nomadic based in Asia for almost all of 2026 and onward, starting in mid-January. After a couple of months in the Philippines, I'll stay in Vietnam for 3 months starting on March 11th in Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and then Hanoi/Ha Long Bay area. Malaysia for 3 months after Vietnam. If anyone has any suggestions or advice on either of these countries/places regarding banking, housing/monthly rentals, and any interesting tips/tricks that should be shared I'd really appreciate it. For Vietnam there's already a couple of alternative sites outside of Airbnb like cozycozy and livinginvietnam.com that I've taken a look at and am also informed on the visa process. Thanks Y'all!

if you want something mid term https://speedhome.com/rent/kuala-lumpur could be an option if you're in KL for housing. There are so many options and it's a renters market so you dont really have to settle.
Losing hope
I’ve been trying to find remote jobs and can’t find anything. I’m told to apply for 3 to 5 remotes jobs a day and yet I can’t even find one. It just makes it seem that I will never find a remote job at all. And please don’t suggest me Linkedin, it is the worst job site in my opinion.

Here's my advice. Yes it's about quantity but it's also about quality. I'm not sure what you're applying for but make 3/4 resumes for 3/4 jobs which you may be qualified for e.g. marketing manager, email marketing manager, outbound specialist etc Then attach your cv to chatgpt and copy and paste a desirable job and tell chatgpt to tailor this to you based on the role (look over it to make sure it's actually job) do this for each of the roles and only send the matching resume with the matching job opportunity. From there, if your experience is good enough you should start hearing back and getting past the ATS and speaking to more people. I'd also do at least 10 a day if you can manage it (assuming there's enough roles) Keep in mind the job market is awful so you really have to stand out I got into 4 final rounds before landing my current role so i know how you feel Don't give up it's a competition and only the persistent win
Ranking Cities to work Remotely in South East Asia
I'm going to rank cities in Asia that i've spent time in taking into consideration, food, transport, internet access, co working, accommodation, cost of living. Let me know if you agree or disagree -Kuala Lumpur 8.7/10 (best cost of living ratio. Not as cheap as thailand but best value) -Bangkok 6/10 (Great night markets but not for me) -Jakarta 6.5/10 (A lot of people don't like it but i may be bias as i know people there) -Phuket 5/10 (Beaches aren't that great and it gets pretty wild there, too many distractions) -Langkawi 7/10 (If you're looking for an Island that's chill, a great spot) -Bali 7/10 (So Canguu and Ubud are polar opposites but overall you'll meet other entrepreneurs or remote workers so personally i like it for the networking. Has nice villas and waterfalls too) -Penang 5/10 (Penang isn't bad it's just you'll likely spend your time in Georgetown which has a cool vibe. I think it's a bit limiting and there are other places i'd rather spend my time) -Chiang Mai 9/10 (Doesn't have a beach but in the Chang Khlan area it's easy to build community. Great food and wifi was mostly reliable)

@Eddy Cruz It really depends what you're looking for. For me KL food is open late, everything is super convenient. Endless high end options for accomodation and penang/georgetown can't compete with that even though it has it's own pros. I'd say if you're coming to Malaysia experience both to see what suits you
GTM Engineer Living in KL Malaysia AMA
I'm a GTM Engineer based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ask me anything about go-to-market systems, automation, scaling B2B pipelines. I’ll can also share practical advice on how to break into GTM roles, including skills to learn, tools to master, and strategies to get noticed by companies. Anything KL or Malaysia rated is something I can discuss too

@Kristofer Milhauser Cost of living is amazing. Best value place in Asia maybe on the planet. For apartments im paying about $600 plus bills for a 2 bedroom spacious in the centre of town near a train station. 2 pools, big gym, new place, co working area. The thing about renting is it's a renters market as there's too many buildings. Then you have food $2-5 dollars a meal on average if you're eating local food, more 10-15 for western which still isn't bad and if you want luxury you can do that too. Transport is cheap and convenient, can use the trains or grab both are cheap
