What is the future of Jiu-Jitsu?
It's really anyone's guess! Personally, I only see it growing exponentially. And it's this generation (us) who will lead the way. What do you think it will look like in say, the next ten years. And where do you see yourself at that point?

@Sean McLeroy I can go to your academy to do a seminar 😁

I think we need a true non bias international federation to legitimize the rules and have the chance to be an Olympic sport. Then it will become even more popular. The risk then is that it will become even more of a competitive sport (like Judo) instead of self defense, as it has been steered in later years. Do you want BJJ to be more a competitive sport or a true self-defense martial art? I want both.
🥋 Jiu Jitsu for Anyone, Community Check-In
Family!! First off I just want to say I’m fired up with where we’re at right now… 63 members deep and growing 🙌 That being said… I feel like we’re at a bit of a crossroads, and I want your input. Right now, Jiu Jitsu for Anyone is solid… but I think we can make it even better. 👉 More engaging 👉 More active 👉 More valuable for everyone in here So the question is… What do YOU want this to be? As we continue to grow, I believe Professor McPherson will keep dropping 🔥 once competition season slows down… But outside of that: 👉 Do you want this to be more of a Q&A style group? 👉 More discussion-based? 👉 Or do you like the way it’s currently set up? At the end of the day, this is for ALL of us. So let’s build something that actually helps everyone level up on and off the mats. Drop your thoughts below ⬇️ I’m listening. Roll on. OSS. 🥋🔥

@Rolando Martin You need to register with the IBJJF as a blue belt, and your professor must approve this, so it may take some time. If you’re not a blue belt by that point, you can still participate in Jiu Jitsu Con. Don't wait until the last minute to sign up. I experienced this with the PANs, where the event reached capacity before the deadline, and I was unable to register.
🔥 TOP 5 GI BRANDS & TOP 5 NO-GI BRANDS (Community Debate Time!) 🔥
Alright fam… let’s stir the pot a little today 😆 One of the coolest things about Jiu-Jitsu is that everyone has their own style. Some people are rocking a crisp competition gi… others look like they just rolled out of a 90s MMA highlight reel in their rashguard and Vale Tudo shorts. So today I want to know… What’s your FAVORITE gear to roll in? Here are some brands that consistently show up on the mats all over the world. 🥋 Top 5 Gi Brands 1️⃣ Shoyoroll The hype king. Clean designs, limited drops, and people treat them like sneaker releases. 2️⃣ Tatami Fightwear Great quality, huge variety, and one of the most popular brands worldwide. 3️⃣ Fuji Sports Absolute tanks. Fuji gis are famous for being durable and competition-ready. 4️⃣ Hayabusa Super technical, modern design, and extremely comfortable. 5️⃣ Kingz Kimonos IBJJF approved classics. Tons of competitors rock Kingz. 🤼 Top 5 No-Gi Brands 1️⃣ Scramble Creative, fun designs and one of the most loved no-gi brands. 2️⃣ Venum Seen everywhere from BJJ tournaments to the UFC. 3️⃣ RVCA Minimalist style with strong roots in surf + grappling culture. 4️⃣ Phalanx Elite rashguards, great compression, and tons of pro athletes wear them. 5️⃣ 93brand Great gear that doesn’t destroy your wallet. 💡 My take? Honestly… the best gear is the gear you train hard in. You can show up in a $300 gi or a $60 Amazon special… if you’re consistent and humble on the mats, that’s what people respect. And remember… 👉 The belt covers two inches of your ass. You have to cover the rest. 🔥 Community Question: Drop your answers below: • What gi brand do you swear by?

I like Fuji and Kings but I even wear Sanabul stuff. What ever gets the job done
🔥 Kill Your Ego. Keep Your Light. 🔥
One thing Jiu-Jitsu has taught me over the years is this… Ego will destroy your progress faster than any opponent ever will. Your ego tells you: “I shouldn’t lose.” “I shouldn’t get tapped.” “I should already be better than this.” But the truth is… Growth only happens when the ego dies. And part of killing your ego is being able to celebrate other people’s success without insecurity. When my friends level up… When my teammates win… When someone shares in sight… I will always celebrate them. I don’t care if we came up together. I don’t care if you’ve surpassed me. I don’t care where I’m training. If you’re my people, I’m in your corner. Always. Because that’s what real teammates do. Recently I put some positive energy out there… and got a negative response back. Multiple occasions. At first I thought about it. Sat with it. Then I realized something simple. F*** Them, I will never dim my light for someone else’s darkness or ego. Not in Jiu-Jitsu. Not in life. If encouragement bothers someone… that says more about their mindset than it ever will about mine. So here’s where I stand: I will celebrate my friends. I will encourage people. I will lift people up. I will Speak Up and Speak Life! no matter where this journey takes me… I will stay authentic. Even if it costs me. Because positivity, encouragement, and loyalty to your people will always matter more than protecting your ego. If you’re part of this community, I hope you do the same. Lift people up. Celebrate wins. Kill your ego. And never let someone convince you to shrink your light. 🥋 Keep rolling. Keep growing.

Ossssssss!
Armbar triangle omoplata?
It's your choice. The opportunity arises, which do you take? 😏

I agree with Sophia that the size matters a lot (Stop thinking outside BJJ ;-)). My leg length is below average, so triangles are hard for me to finish. Omoplata works regardless of body size. The only problem is when you have a beast that can stand up with a locked omoplata like he is picking up a child.
