For the love of the game!
Hey everyone! It's been a busy month. I know some of us have been busy competing. Some of us have been crazy with work. Let's jumpstart things and start chatting more! What's a cool new technique you learned recently?

Probably takedowns. They're perhaps the least understood aspect of the game, and I think they're one of the next evolutions of the at.

@Jami Blair yelling at the coaches could definitely be a specialty for you 😂
🥋🔥 JJFA CHECK-IN, REAL TALK 🔥🥋
Quick question for the room 👇 What’s the hardest part of Jiu-Jitsu for YOU right now? Not the highlight-reel stuff. Not what you wish you were good at. The real struggle. • Getting smashed and staying calm 😤 • Remembering techniques under pressure 🧠 • Cardio falling off halfway through rounds 🫁 • Confidence before training or competition 😬 • Balancing life + training + recovery ⚖️ • Or something nobody ever talks about… Drop it in the comments ⬇️ No judgment. No ego. Just growth. This community gets better when we’re honest. Somebody in here has already been through what you’re dealing with and that’s how we all level up 💪🔥 Let’s talk. Let’s build. Let’s roll. 🥋🤝

@Rolando Martin competition is definitely tough, which is why most practitioners don't do it. The best consolation I can give is that the rest of your division is going through much the same stress the same as you. And ultimately, it's all about having fun, win or lose. And no matter what, you'll be better for the experience. Here's hoping that by next week you're over that cold. Good luck!
Mouthguard brands?
Thinking of getting a new mouthguard. What recommendations does everybody have for brands?

@Sophia McLeroy I've currently using one. Not my favorite ever.
Desperate Kimura save… funny move
I had to write it down cuz it was too funny during the no gi class today. I was basically getting kimuraed in sensei Ian’s half guard. I was so desperate to not to be submitted, I intended to grab my gi, instantly I felt pain because I actually grabbed my own fat near the rib cage! I forgot it was the no gi class!!! I tapped to kimura submission and pain to my own fat… good job sensei Ian! 🤣

You had a good defense! With your flexibility, you're definitely not easy to kimura 🦾
Introduce myself
I forgot to introduce myself in a post, here we go. Name: Sophia Age: old enough to drink Belt / Experience: new blue belt / started Mar. 2024 (had lisfranc foot injury due to slip and fall in April. 2025. Stopped training because of the injury and the surgery afterwards for half a year). Came back to the mat while still recovering from the surgery in the late September. Long story short, my BJJ experience is a bit over 1 year. Why you started jiu jitsu: always love martial arts. I did traditional Chinese kungfu for 2 years and taekwondo for 1 year when I was young. Biggest struggle right now: half guard and all guard passing (which I could not do for a while because of my foot) Goal for the next 90 days: half guard and close guard attacks and sweeps. Guard passing. Leg locks.
