Security
When you think you've done enough think again. Security is not just about cameras and fence-lines, it takes constant vigilance. Leaving crumbs in the yard are temptations that many look at as an invitation.

Reality vs the Internet
At 59 years of age I laugh every time I see a "NEW GEAR MUST HAVE". If I bought every piece of gear the " YOU TUBE /Internet EXPERTS" claim are necessities. I'd die from the weight of it - forget the need to bug out or in; I'd need a tractor trailer to haul it all. There is no perfect kit other than what you can reasonably carry. Mine is as simple as it gets. 1. Knife - 2, 1 for small work and one for camp work, 2. A reliable fire source ( redundancy is key here as is weight. 3. Water and or a means to purify it. 4. Some type of light first aid supplies. 5. Max weight = 2-5 pounds. 6. Everything else is weight which ultimately = pain. List you item preferences and get involved.
