Reality vs the Internet
At 59 years of age I laugh every time I see a "NEW GEAR MUST HAVE". If I bought every piece of gear the " YOU TUBE /Internet EXPERTS" claim are necessities. I'd die from the weight of it - forget the need to bug out or in; I'd need a tractor trailer to haul it all. There is no perfect kit other than what you can reasonably carry. Mine is as simple as it gets.
- Knife - 2, 1 for small work and one for camp work,
- A reliable fire source ( redundancy is key here as is weight.
- Water and or a means to purify it.
- Some type of light first aid supplies.
- Max weight = 2-5 pounds.
- Everything else is weight which ultimately = pain.
