I tried something new 🫣 + Small Challenge for You 🎁
I recorded my next 3 YouTube videos LIVE... I'm going to edit them down now...but... How'd I do? I'm new to this but my chat with @Sergio Felix over the past few days gave me the confidence to 'fail forward' and just give it a shot! It's something I've wanted to do and so...I'm doing it. Even if I'm doing it not so great yet 🙃 So...if you have a chance to check it out I'd love some real feedback on what I can improve. So...how was I? ⬇️ ALSO the Challenge... In the spirit of new things...if you post a video in the community (do it as it's own post) before Friday the 19th I will send you an encouraging and actionable video reply! A simple 30-90 second phone video is plenty (more is good too ;) and don't try to be perfect - seeing the little flubs and imperfections helps me see how best to help!

Cool idea!
Introduction to Group
Who are you and what you do? My name is Patrick and I’m a dermatology PA living in the Outer Banks, NC. How long have you been playing guitar? I’ve been playing guitar for 8 months and am loving the challenge. I play both acoustic and electric guitar and am addicted to playing and everything else about guitars and gear! What is your favorite song to listen to right now (or pick a few if you can't choose 1 🙃)? I have been listening to lots of Nick Drake music. My favorite song is “Horn” because I taught myself to play it.

Hey Patrick! I’m Gary…great to meet you. @Jake Galambos has created and awesome place here. All I know about the Outer Banks is from that Netflix show 😆
What's your #1 challenge with guitar playing right now? 🎸
I'm always curious to learn more about people's challenges and sticking points when it comes to the guitar. Comment below so we can help each other out and brainstorm together 🧠

Creating Your Own Exercises
What is your ONE thing that if you fixed it - everything on guitar would sound better? One of the most powerful ways to help get tough song under your belt is too create exercises/warm ups that are specifically targeted to the song your working on. Last week during the Live Q + A @Jake Yakes needed help with the intro Solo to “Wish You Were Here” So the first thing we needed to address was technique. Specifically on his slides. The issue was with the slides. So my suggestion was to create warm ups that replicate the slides in the song but in other places on the guitar. Not trying to sound perfect or even musical, just building the muscle memory. And that’s the key. When your working on a song that’s difficult you’ve got to step outside the song and work on the mechanics. Create warm ups that are related to the song and you’ll be blown away at the progress. Drop a song your working on in the comments and I’ll give you a quick and easy warm up that’ll help you finally tackle it.

@Tim Hess That's such a great solo!. Hammer-on, pull-off, and bending, exercises would be great for that song in particular.
Money For Nothing (acoustic version)
Been working on this acoustic version of Money for Nothing recently and it's a pretty fun one to play. It's very rhythm oriented with the dead notes and the odd plucking pattern, but it's a lot of fun.
