What's your unapologetic opinion?
How do you feel about social media today, both personally and professionally?

I feel it is 1) misleading 2) a distraction. I feel like people only posts the moments of big accomplishments or joy or pictures where they look the best so you only get the highlight reel version of someone’s life and you draw comparisons and begin to get envious in certain instances. 2) it’s a mindless distraction that allows us to fade away from the reality we are in and live behind the screen
You don’t rise to your goals. You fall to your standards.
Last night, I asked my lifelong friend—now a Webby-winning TV host—how he created a life so far from where we came from. He didn't even hesitate when he said: “I raised my standards.” That was it. And it hit me like a truck. Most people don’t fail because they're not "setting big goals". They fail because they keep tolerating low standards: - Junk food. - Lazy effort. - Energy-draining friends. - Procrastination dressed up as "self-care". Goals focus your attention. Standards are your foundation. Setting bigger goals without raising your standards... nothing changes. So here’s the question I want to leave you with: Where in your life is it time to raise your standards? Drop it in the comments.

I think raising your standards is hard for people, myself included, because it requires an acknowledgement of the fact you are not where you want to be in a certain aspect of your life. It is much easier to finger point or find excuses as to why you haven’t progressed or gotten the promotion or etc. than it is to look in the mirror and ask, “did you do everything you could to secure the future you want?” You want your dream body? You want better job? You want a fulfilled life? Do everything you can to get those things. I personally know my biggest obstacle had always been, “what if I do all of that and it doesn’t work?” So I’ll eat a cookie, or something unhealthy or not put myself out there for the jobs that feel out of my reach so I can have a decision I made to point to as to why I’m not where I am. It’s not because I don’t work hard enough or I’m not talented enough it’s because of xyz. My biggest fear is that the man I am in my head is not the man everyone else sees and I am lesser.

@Marty Nocchi That is it 1000%. I love that “wrapping the standard in love and acknowledging I am ENOUGH”
