Why Great Books Sometimes Fail 😔
I once worked with an author who spent 2 years pouring their heart into a manuscript. The writing was excellent—but when they hit “publish,” sales barely moved. The reason? The book looked unpolished—the cover didn’t connect with readers, the formatting was messy, and there was no marketing plan in place. After we redesigned the book and launched a targeted marketing strategy, their sales increased dramatically. ✨ The lesson: Writing the book is only the beginning. Publishing and positioning it properly is what helps it find readers. 👉 I’m curious, have you ever picked up a book with a great story but poor presentation? How did it make you feel?

I think the variation of reading methods can help indie authors overcome some of the book cover and formatting challenges. For instance, if I’m reading on kindle, I don’t really care about the cover. If I’m listening on Audible, I don’t even know how to spell the character names most of the time. However, completely agree good covers and formatting can make all the difference on selecting and loving a book. I recently finished a book that switched from first person and this and it drove me nuts…

It was nice. We went fishing on Saturday morning and had a relaxing Saturday visiting my parents. On Sunday woke up to my family being sick so the downtime continues!
