Pushes
I've watched a very informative video talking about Premises, People, and Pushes (https://youtu.be/mh1Yq592I5A?si=NAhVdyZQiWBp1inK). Out of all the concepts this video talks about, pushes seems to be the one I can find the least additional information about. The creator talks about pushes being events that occur in the world in order to make it feel alive, specifying that these are NOT plot hooks but are instead events that would happen, big or small, in a way that makes sense for the world to feel alive. This includes, for example, a scene where an accident takes place and the push is a news van interviewing a group of students all giving varying accounts of what happened. Are there more resources exploring this topic about how to make world feel alive without pressuring the players down a plot (similar to the advice in the video)? Perhaps the concept is called something else in other books.

Thas a really interesting concept. It makes me think of natural consequences. Thinking of my own campaign I found it easiest to incorporate things like that around the players personal/individual stories. I can think of 2 examples that might relate to this. 1. Had a player with a cursed ring that made her prestige increase. She leaned into it and ended up getting a stalker and later formed sort of a cult around her. It wasn't really a plot hook at all. It was a response to her actions. And things would evolve as they traveled out of the city for adventures and come back. 2.the other was a vampire player that started slowly building a vampire army. He was careless and one of his vamps killed a civilian. Another player was dating the city commissioner so she found put about some of the investigation around this that was happening behind the scenes. And things would advance on that front when the players were away. None of it was related to the actual "plot" of the campaign. It was all extra benefits and complications of being in a big city and the actions they took. Not sur if it's the same. But it reminded me of that.
Battle arena.
Those of you in the Friday morning chat would have heard me talking about the giant battle arena I'm printing. I'm about half way though and this is how it's looking. When it's done it should be about 22" in diameter. For comparison I also posted pictures of the largest I could print it on one plate.

Horror Campaign Development
Some of you may have heard me talk about wanting to do a 5 week mini campaign this Halloween. I've got my players and I've come up with the scaffolding. I sent out the following questionnaire to them. What I love about this is that I'm giving them the opportunity to actually share their real fears with me to be used as material for the game, but I have stressed that I DO NOT WANT THEM TELL ME IF THEIR FEARS ARE REALLY THEIRS OR JUST FEARS I GET TO USE FOR THE GAME. If they give me their real fears they will have a more intense experience. Once I get their questionnaires back I'll put together the actual sessions. Each session will focus on a different horror element with the guiding principle being that if they can hit it, its combat, not horror. If anyone is interested in my over all story I'm happy to share it. I just dont want to type it all out if no one is intertested. As a setting, Im loosley using a four session module called One for the Sorrow - Whispers in the Mist as my sand box. Its ideal because its already split into 4 sessions. I need 5 but I already know what my fifth session will be

The [Tucson] Gamemasters’ Academy
Hi, gang! One of our local Dungeon Masters at our friendly local gaming shoppe’s “One-Shot Wednesday” splintered off a group to run a series of games with a rotating DM/GM scheme revolving around what’s called The Infinite Staircase. For those unfamiliar, The Infinite Staircase is a landmark in the Planescape setting, recently unearthed in modern versions of D&D. The premise is we traverse The Infinite Staircase to a doorway to another setting, have some adventure, and when we return to the Staircase, the current DM/GM tags in the next GM, who takes us to the next world and adventure, and so on. Same characters across the multiverse. Meanwhile, we started a private Discord, share exercises with each other and try new things together at the table. I’ll let you know how it goes. And yes, I bought SiG: City of Blades, which is the Forged in the Dark version of Planescape. We’re doing OG Blades in the Dark first.

@James Willetts yeah. Ive only ever attempted to run a pre-written campaign once and I ended up doing my own version on the fly of those read-alouds that felt more natural. I mostly homebrew so I write my own things when I think a description is necessary. But never mandatory. I prefer bullet points and improvisation.

@James Willetts if you feel uncomfortable reading a pre-written text because it awkward, then bullet points help remind you of what needs to be said. Might take longer to prep but the delivery will be much better. Assuming you are OK with a little improvisation. When I do workshops or YT videos i personally do better with an outline than with a script.
Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG One Shot
Edit: session will be Wednesday the 16th and I have two slots left as of posting. Hey everyone! I am going to be running the new Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG the week of September the 14th. I've got three slots I'm asking for votes of from interested players. Monday the 14th, Wednesday the 16th, or Saturday the 19th. Each of these times would be at 6pm Central time. I use a ralley poll to collect the votes/emails to send a full invite once a time is selected. Going to be running this on my discord and will require Camera and Microphone. Always love running games for this community!
