My most recent oil painting finished, from an actual vintage photo of a cowgirl named Nellie Brown in 1881. I struggled mightily with the background for months, vanquished the piece to the shelf and let it sit for a few - then circled back around to it. I'm much happier with the whole painting now. 🙂

After a few months I revisited my tooth painting, just wasn’t happy with it. If you recall , this was about a scout trip we took in the mountains and I wanted it as a present to my son. Although he is happy with it, I wasn’t, so I took it back to try something different. This first is the new painting. I tried to improve depth and increase contrast as well as darkening and putting some movement in the sky. Changed the composition a bit too. Any thoughts?

The bridge was built by Germans in 1800 the city and West of Poland was occupied by Germans. After Second World War Poland got back West side of Poland, but we lost Eastern side to Russia. This city is very close to my heart. Still learning how to paint. Having lots of fun.
