Winter river in Tasmania
I painted this using gouache, from a photo I took many years ago in Tasmania on a winter holiday. It's quite a small painting. The subject matter was a challenge. I finished it yesterday (6th Jan 2026).

Reflections
Another painting from memory. I spent my teenage years on Lake Erie and one morning the water was like a smooth pane of glass. After many sketches, this 16 x 20 oil on canvas is my attempt to capture that morning.

Nice work, you can make it even better. The boat side opposite to the sun will be much darker and boat will cast a long shadow, something like this:

@Chuck Taylor BTW, reflections can be built with dividers almost always but far not always the axis will pass the point where subject is touching water.
