Friday Tip! 🧂
I recently figured out an improved method of taking salt tablets while running and thought I’d share it here: 1) Fold the salt tab into a 1-2 layer square of cling wrap. 2) Use clear tape to tape the edges onto your gel like a blister pack. It will help protect the salt tab in your sweaty pocket, and you can easily bite it open with your teeth to eat it without fumbling or fighting! If you give it a try, let me know how it works for you!

Tried it out for my race today and it was perfect. GAME CHANGER!
Athlete Spotlight: Aury!
Happy September y'all! This month's Athlete Spotlight is @Aury Moreno 🥳 Aury, we are so glad to have you in the community — you have such a joy and passion for running, and we can't wait to cheer you on ahead of your marathon in November! Aury shared that she had struggled with calling herself a runner for the longest time (me too!), and to be called an athlete was next level. I think it is a great reminder that we are often the hardest on ourselves, and that everyone in this group is absolutely an athlete! 👏 Be sure to check out her full spotlight — it's a good one!: https://www.myfirstmarathon.co/post/first-marathon-buddy-program-athlete-spotlight-meet-aury

@Aury Moreno that's a huge win! Took me much longer than I'd like to admit to figure that one out 🤣

I think I've mentioned that I've been struggling to find new long run routes since I moved, but instead of letting that spiral into inaction, I've done my last two long runs on the treadmill (12 and 15 miles) and quite honestly I never thought I'd have the mental fortitude to make it that long on something I can just jump off of at any point - half of my motivation on long runs is that I have to eventually make it back home 🤣
Friday Question! 👟
If you were able to receive ONE model of shoe free for the rest of your life, but the trade-off was that you had to use that shoe (and ONLY that shoe) for ALL of your training runs and races, which shoe would you choose?

This is so hard 🤣 buuuuut I think I’d say Brooks Hyperion Max.
Strength for runners!!
I’ve been getting a lot of questions about incorporating strength into your marathon routine :) I have a few YouTube videos that I follow for at home workouts, I’m happy to share them in the comments!! What are some of your favorite tips for strength training/what are you struggling with right now? 👇

This is my current fave! https://youtu.be/U3Ek7BazKwU?is=xYvCY7aKYrI7xh-B I struggle with incorporating strength still, but committing to this video once a week has already made a big difference for me. Start small and keep it simple!
