What do you consider to be your official ‘Long Run’? (No right or wrong answers here, just curious!)

Long boi I love it 🤣 I call my speed shoes speedy bois 🤣🤣 For me, although I am for some reason almost always in marathon training lol I usually just call my long run the longest run of the week (so anywhere from 5 to 20 miles haha). I think it helps me mentally go in to those runs better and helps me fuel appropriately for the time I’ll be running. I tend to probably underfuel on easy, shorter runs.
Midweek Check-In/Wednesday Wins!
How is everyone doing? I know the heat and the wildfire smoke have definitely thrown some curveballs into the summer training plans (along with some of us that are dealing with injuries or niggles that have popped up), so what can we help support and cheer you on with? What is a win you’ve had (or hope to have) this week? My win is that I can finally pick up my leg to get dressed in the morning without my hip flexor hurting. PT is working its magic!

@Emily Bailey made it to a two-mile easy run this morning and am going to try outdoors on the hills tomorrow so hopefully back to normal!
Win Wednesday!
Hi friends! Let’s shout out some wins from this week :) Big or small! What’s your win this week? Mine is getting out of bed and on my run ON TIME this morning and getting to actually run in some cooler temps!! Just the reset I needed :)

@Emily Bailey you got this! Showing up to PT and taking care of yourself are huge wins.

@Kristine Owen Wood Glad it is on the mend! Taking care of yourself instead of ignoring those things that don't feel quite right is a definite win.
Hellou…
I’m new here. Just signed up for my first marathon. Yay! New Orleans in November. So excited!! I’m becoming the stereotypical new runner, where it’s all I think about, can talk about it for hours, read about it, listen to podcasts, it’s all consuming and I’m loving every minute of it. So that’s how I ended up here. 😁

Welcome @Aury Moreno !! I would echo a lot of what @Emily Bailey said RE: fueling. As someone who struggles to fuel appropriately - especially during - for any run that I know will take an hour or more, I start fueling every 30 minutes (in addition to fueling before - I try to eat before every run and I hydrate extra on the days before a long run). I alternate between gels and chews, and sometimes candy - basically whatever will encourage me to actually eat on schedule lol. And fuel BEFORE you feel like you need it! Once you feel like you need it, it's too late haha.
Long Run Saturday 🥵
Anyone else get out for a long run today? How did it go? It’s very hot and humid here so my paces weren’t perfect BUT I fueled on schedule even with the heat, which was a huge win for me and my heat-sensitive stomach 🤣

@Kristine Owen Wood I HATE that heavy abdomen feeling! Here’s hoping tomorrows run is a mich better experience!
