A follow up from my Journalling thread, would LOVE any book recs you have/to hear about any books you've recently read that you adore or any you are currently reading. Industry specific or mindset/self-help/wellness focus BUT please tell me all about your fave fiction finds also! We love being holistic humans in this house! Not everything has to be focused on your career x I'm someone who reads about 7 books at once because reading is a mood thing for me! The book I'll pick up depends on how I'm feeling and what I'm seeking at the time (I was absolutely a book nerd growing up so this works quite well for me, and miraculously, I still manage to get through them this way) My Current Reads: - She's on the Money, Victoria Devine (First one off the bat because financial literacy!!! Who DOESN'T need that as an artist! Get your budget figured out in 2025 so you can invest in yourself and your career without worrying how you're also going to pay rent!!! Gamechanger. A lot of financial advice available is for international audiences and I love that this is Australian-focused and applicable. I'm reading this in conjunction to listening to the audiobook so I'm going through it a lot faster than I would just reading it. I'm actively reading this while I set up my 2025 budget) - The Creative Act, Rick Rubin (a very spiritual perspective on creating and the process of creation, written in a way that almost flows like prose - this one's been a slower read for me, I'd recommend reading it when you're actively creating or about to jump into a project for more momentum) - The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle (about being present, something I struggle with a lot! I'm very sentimental and also anxious HAHA. Really beautiful read on the art of noticing and appreciating the tiny details of right here and now) - Lanny, Max Porter (an English fiction book that reads like an absurdist theatre script??? it's wild and truly reads like it belongs on a stage and as part of the vce theatre studies list. My second Max Porter read after absolutely devouring Grief is the Thing with Feathers, which has a similar vibe and made me SOB and also incidentally has been turned into a stage play) - Negotiating with the Dead, Margaret Atwood (a writer on what it means to be a writer, but really it delves into what it means to be a storyteller, or a custodian of stories. Wild how a 2002 discussion about the politics of art still remains relevant) - and finally - In The Flo, Alissa Vitti (for anyone who menstruates - this book is all about cycle-syncing - planning out your exercise, your social calendar and tips/tricks on things to eat that help balance your hormone levels at every stage of your cycle. This one is my shark-week read. In 2025 we're not running our lives based solely on scientific evidence gathered by only studying male bodies xo The tone of this book is VERY radical feminist)
