BIG Updates
I’ve been a bit absent, and thus, silent lately. I’ve really, truly…been pondering the best way to serve the couple dozen wonderful humans inside this community. Here’s the conclusion I’ve reached. Ultimately, sometime this year I will be creating and launching my own app where everything is simplified: a place for recipes—a place to connect and ask questions—a place for sourdough bread baking resources—and a place for anything else I find helpful in making your life better. I was going to close this group down and just refund anyone who paid anything. However, I still want to use this to test some stuff out, share recipes in here and communicate with y’all. The first 25 members acted quickly and were able to join for free. The remaining others paid either $10/year or are paying $1/month. I will happily refund you and remove you from the group, but if you choose to stay you will get early access to my app for free. I will need some people to test it out and give me feedback. I’m perfectly okay with whatever you choose to do. Just DM me on here or on social media (or email [email protected]) and I’ll refund you right away. I’m working on some new sourdough content and recipes so stay tuned for those as I’ll be launching them inside here first! Gratitude, Jake Widmann

Thats a lot of cookies. Brings back memories of growing up and the freezer always being full of homemade baking.
Creamy Homemade Hamburger ā€œHelperā€
I saw a comment somewhere on my social media the other day about hamburger helper. It reminded me of my early teens and going to my dad’s on the weekends. Boy, did we eat a good amount of hamburger helper style dinners. It may not be great for you, but it did taste great, and I loved that time with him. That comment, however, did inspire me to try and create my own style of hamburger helper, but homemade. Here’s the recipe I whipped up: - 1 package pasta (penne works well) - 1 tbsp olive oil - 1 medium onion chopped - 2 pounds ground beef - 1 tsp garlic powder - 2 (14 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice - 1 (6 oz can) tomato paste - 1 tsp Dijon mustard - 1 tsp Italian seasoning - 3/4 cup heavy cream - Salt & pepper to taste - Freshly grated cheese—I used Parmesan and Gouda DIRECTIONS: * Cook noodles at any time. 1.) Heat olive oil in a large pan. Add in chopped onions and cook until translucent. 2.) In the same pan add in your ground beef and garlic powder. Brown your beef. 3.) Once browned, add in your diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Dijon mustard, and Italian seasoning. Stir and bring to a simmer. 4.) Once simmering, add in your heavy cream and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Stir in the cheese. 5.) Serve and enjoy!

December 16-22 Family Food Plan
1ļøāƒ£ Each week I will start posting my families food plan for the week ahead! However, lets get a few things straight first... šŸ˜‚ Anyone who tells you they have the perfect food/meal plan for their family is a LIAR...especially if they have kids. šŸ˜‹ Some nights my kids eat more than my wife or I do. Some nights they take one look at their food and they say they're full. Both of those situations are perfectly fine. To be clear...we never force our kids to eat if they're full, but if they're full, they're not getting anything else until their dinner plate is gone. šŸ” This is a full week's meal plan. Some mornings you're going to be rushed and won't have time to make what's on the list. Maybe my kids love bagels, but your kids hate them. Simply swap those days for whatever you know your kids do like. šŸ—‘ļø Notice how there are no "Frosted Flakes" or "Toaster Struedels." I'm not saying we (or our kids) can't ever eat these things, but we know they're not the ideal breakfast food. We buy a box of healthier cereal about once a month. It usually never lasts more than a day or two, because our kids enjoy it as a treat...because that's what it is. So swap a meal or two every once in a while for a Grade-A 90's food pyramid-style treat. Aside from that... you're in this group because you want to nourish your family...not treat them poor food habits. šŸ”— Lastly, I will eventually have these lists so that you can click on the meal itself and it will be linked directly to a video and a recipe. This isn't the case right now, but it's in the works. That's the benefit of getting in this group at such a low price. You get to grow with me and see it change over time...while those who join later pay a higher price for a more "formal and helpful" community. *The picture below is formatted to display properly on your phone. Let me know if you'd prefer something you can print out to display in your home! Let me know any thoughts or suggestions you have below! Grateful, Jake Widmann

I love stuffed pepper casserole. We find it heats up better for leftovers rather than trying to re-heat stuffed peppers.
New Ebook!
Hey Yall! Just published a good starter ebook for y'all to snag. You can view and download it here: https://www.skool.com/food-and-freedom-3309/classroom I’ll be adding another one in the coming days as well, but it won’t unlock until level 3. You ā€œlevel upā€ when you post and engage with others in our community. FYI—It doesn’t rise much to get to level 3. Chat soon! Jake
