There’s a special gift that comes with sharing your story over and over, for different people and different audiences. You can get better at telling it simpler while still impacting deeply, and you also get to appreciate what the story becomes as it lands in someone else’s heart. Sharing for Kimberly and her ROAR audience (which offers short video messages to inspire children and families in hospitals) was very sweet, and brought me back to the sacredness of the chrysalis, that place that feels dark and confining but saturated with the magic to become fully undone and remade. Reparenting myself through the agony of degenerative autoimmune disease was a powerful initiation that freed me in incredible ways, but while it was happening, it felt like HELL. It was SO uncomfortable, confusing, disorienting, and unpredictable. And also, SOOO lonely. Because nobody I knew knew anything about what was going on. Getting to share messages of hope and practical guidance for folks struggling with similar challenges is very special for me. Chatting with Edna White on her Keeping it Real on Purpose ED-Cast was a real delight! Edna brought some good questions along with a natural curiosity and excitement for growth and transformation. We spoke on the importance of claiming agency in order to self-lead our lives, how to navigate the turbulence that can arise when your identity is re-organizing, and what it feels like to embody real self worth (including claiming monetary value for emotional intelligence). Let your answers be in your actions, and in the fertile space between. As fully integrated soul in body, knowledge and words emerge naturally, from that place that seamlessly breathes and sighs. Live life in the weft of action and inaction. Fully inhabit the ink, beyond the hand, beyond the pen, beyond even the page massaged. Glide, slick, lustrous. Be a verb. Be a song. 🦋🦋🦋 It's time to stop compartmentalizing the "spiritual" and "embodiment." My experience is that what splits us from our body is precisely our disconnect from what I call "soul." My late father once wrote in his journal (when he was just a young man in college) about his intention to raise his future children "nurturing and raising within them the deepest questions of life-the spiritual questions." He wrote: "My concern is not which religion they choose to follow, but that they search with intensity for that indestructible part of themselves." In the Sanctuary, we've just been re-entering womb territory. That portal where deep pre-verbal imprints can be rewritten. That space where safety can be reclaimed and re-write our story from deep waters. As we traverse it (and for some of us, re-traverse it), identity evolution quickens and widens, like the contractions of a labor speeding up and rebirth becoming imminent. I am not surprised, but also still totally in awe of this work which can take even the most seasoned practitioners into deeper depths and higher heights, more integrated in the whole spectrum of being both a precious, specific body and an eternal, powerful soul.
