Changing My Stance: Why Tirzepatide Might Beat Retatrutide for Most People
Disclaimer: Research peptides only. Educational purposes. Not medical advice. Talk to your doctor. I've always said: research with whatever allows you to stay on plan and keeps you in a deficit. But after experimenting with both extensively, I need to rethink this. My Experience: Tirzepatide → food noise basically gone while still being able to eat Retatrutide + cagri → still thinking about food way too much Even adding cagrilintide to reta hasn't given me the same mental freedom as tirz. And that's making me question whether reta's theoretical advantages are actually worth it for most people. What the Clinical Data Shows: Tirzepatide (SURMOUNT trials): Participants consistently reported serious appetite suppression. Many said they basically stopped thinking about food between meals. Retatrutide (Phase 2 trials): Weight loss was impressive (24% at 48 weeks), but appetite control was hit-or-miss. Some people experienced it, others didn't. The pattern is clear: tirz delivers consistent appetite suppression for almost everyone. Reta is more variable. The Part Everyone Overlooks: Yeah, reta might burn slightly more fat because of glucagon receptor activation. But here's the reality— Most researchers don't have their diet and training dialed in yet. And getting THOSE fundamentals right will do way more for fat loss than reta's glucagon effect ever will. You can replicate reta's fat-burning advantages through: - Increased cardio - Lipo-C injections - L-carnitine supplementation - Fasted training sessions - Consistent resistance training Here's my honest take: If you dial in nutrition, training, and sleep, you'll get comparable results with tirz—without fighting hunger all day. Reta's edge only matters if everything else is already optimized. For most people, it's not. What I'm Seeing: This pattern keeps repeating: researchers switch from tirz to reta, then come back—not because tirz made everything effortless, but because it made staying on plan manageable.

I finally reached a level with Reta after week 12 of titrating up, for weight loss and NO FOOD NOISE! I am on 10 mg now and on week 23. I could do better at other factors though, i.e. diet, nutrition. No food noise and reduced appetite! Physiologically, Reta makes more sense for people because of it being triple action. TZP: I was on that for two years and lost 30 pounds but as soon as I got off of it at the max dose, I creeped back up by 10lbs and then restarted it again and lost the 10 pounds however never got to my goal weight which was 25 pounds short. I plateaued and maintain the same weight for a year before switching to Reta. i am hoping with Reta I can get to my goal wait, but I have 20 more pounds to go. There’s some things I need to do for myself though to reach that goal that don’t have anything to do with this medication.

🚨 The Retatrutide Side Effect No One Talks About: Elevated Resting Heart Rate
Everyone's focused on the incredible fat loss results with retatrutide, but there's a critical side effect that's flying under the radar: significantly elevated resting heart rate. This isn't your typical GLP-1 nausea that goes away in a few days. This is a cardiovascular effect that demands respect and careful attention. What's Actually Happening in Your Research Models? Retatrutide is a triple agonist - GIP/GLP-1/glucagon. That third component, glucagon, is what sets it apart from tirzepatide and semaglutide, and it's also what's driving this side effect. Here's the mechanism: Glucagon receptor activation: - Dramatically increases metabolic rate and energy expenditure (great for fat loss) - Activates the sympathetic nervous system (your "fight or flight" response) - Stimulates thermogenesis (heat production) - Increases cardiac output to support elevated metabolism The result? Your heart starts beating faster to keep up with the increased metabolic demand. This isn't a bug - it's a feature of how the compound works. But it comes with real implications. The Clinical Trial Data In Eli Lilly's Phase 2 trials: - Average RHR increases of 5-10 bpm were common - Some subjects saw increases of 15+ bpm - The effect was dose-dependent (higher doses = higher RHR) - The elevation persisted throughout treatment duration - It didn't just "go away" after a few weeks like GI side effects To put this in perspective: if your baseline RHR is 65 bpm and you jump to 80 bpm, that's your heart beating an extra 21,600 times per day. Over a year? That's nearly 8 million extra heartbeats. Why This Matters More Than You Think An elevated RHR isn't just uncomfortable - it has real physiological implications: Cardiovascular strain: - Increased workload on the heart muscle - Higher oxygen demand - Potential for increased blood pressure - Greater stress on the cardiovascular system long-term Quality of life impacts: - Feeling "wired" or anxious - Poor sleep quality - Reduced exercise capacity - Palpitations or awareness of heartbeat

When I first started the medication my heart rate was slightly higher, but it is not anymore. After I lost some of the weight, all of my vital signs are within normal limits and very good.
