@Ernest Sandefer Honestly, that’s a strong concept the stakes are built in already. The idea of him being the only fertile man instantly creates tension, especially with a pregnant partner in the mix. You’re also in a good spot revisiting episode one after time away you’ll see it more clearly now. The main thing I’d pay attention to is how quickly the world and the danger around him becomes clear, because that’s what will hook people early. And your goal of selling it and staying on as a consultant/EP makes sense that usually comes down to how strong that first episode and overall vision are. One thing I’m really curious about how does the world actually find out about Herman? And does that happen early, or later in the story?”

@Ernest Sandefer “Totally fair I respect that. That already sounds like a solid conflict though, especially having a government connection working against his privacy. That kind of internal + external tension can really carry a series. I like that you’re doing Feedback Friday too that’s a smart way to test what’s working early. I might actually check it out. When you’re getting feedback on the first episode, one thing I’d pay close attention to is whether people clearly understand the rules of the world and the stakes without needing explanation later that’s usually where a lot of strong concepts either land or miss. Out of curiosity, what kind of feedback are you hoping to get tonight more on the story itself, or how it’s structured as a script?”

Thanks for this
240 Members in 5 Months — Thank You
I'm genuinely amazed at how The StoryTellers Hub has grown in just over five months. We started as a small group of writers figuring it out together, and now we're 240 members strong. To everyone who shows up, posts, gives feedback, and keeps this community alive, especially those of you who've been here since day one — thank you. As we keep building, you'll see more videos diving into the topics you care about most. The craft deep-dives, the industry breakdowns, the format explorations — it's all coming. In the meantime, dive into everything waiting for you in the Classroom and lock in your spot for upcoming events on the Calendar. There's a lot here already.

@Ernest Sandefer Thanks for sharing this your priorities are clear and well-placed. Focusing on outlining will make the biggest difference. A simple structure like a 3 act breakdown can save you time and prevent getting stuck later. I can share a straightforward method if you’d like. For resources, prioritize practical breakdowns of real scripts over theory it’s more effective. Networking is also key. Even light, consistent engagement can lead to real opportunities over time. Given your current situation, keep it simple focus on one small step at a time to stay consistent. Are you currently working on a specific script, or still developing ideas?
