@John Read That’s actually a very realistic breakdown especially the jump in cost once images and layout complexity come into play. A lot of authors don’t factor that in early enough. And I completely agree on beta readers timing makes all the difference. Too early and the feedback can create more noise than clarity. Curious was this based on a book you’ve already worked through and invested in, or are you still in the process? Have you published it yet? I’ve worked with a few authors in a similar position, and it’s interesting how small tweaks post-production (especially around presentation and setup on KDP/Ingram can make a big difference without adding more cost.
