FREE COPY - ULTIMATE GUIDE FOR PARENTS OF KEEPERS 🧤
Being the parent of a goalkeeper is one of the most stressful roles in youth football—especially if you have never played in goal yourself. Goalkeeping is a highly specialised position, and without first-hand experience, it is extremely difficult to know how to advise or support your child correctly. This puts many parents in an impossible position. You see your child standing alone in goal, sometimes facing unfair criticism from coaches or teammates, yet you are unsure how to help. Even worse, well-intended advice can unintentionally make things harder. This is not a failure on your part. Goalkeeping is different. To truly understand it, you need insight from someone who has lived it at a high level. That is exactly why I wrote The Ultimate Guide for Parents of Goalkeepers—to give parents clarity, confidence, and practical guidance so they can genuinely support their goalkeeper child. If you are serious about helping your child navigate the challenges of playing in goal, I strongly recommend reading this over the Christmas period. It is a short, simple read, and I guarantee you will feel far more confident in how to help your child afterwards. And it is completely free. PARENTS - WHAT WOULD YOU DO ?
Guys, I received a DM from a parent this week and, with their permission, wanted to share it here 👇 Their son has played for the same team for three years. Never missed games. Turned up every week. Fully committed. 💙⚽ A few weeks ago, he picked up an injury and had to miss a handful of matches 🤕 During that time, the coach put an outfield player in goal. When the young keeper returned to training, fit and ready to play, the coach told him he would only get half a game, because he now had to “fight for his place”. This really upset both the parent and the goalkeeper (who is still very young). After three years of loyalty, it felt unfair and confusing 😔 The parent spoke to the coach to explain how much this had knocked her son’s confidence — to the point where he started saying he didn’t want to play in goal anymore 💔🧤 The coach’s response?“What would you do if your head was on my shoulders?” Now, I know some grassroots coaches — especially at kids’ level — look in the mirror and see Pep Guardiola staring back at them 😅 But parents and goalkeepers…What would you do in this situation? UPDATE: Just found out that the stand in goalkeeper does not want to stay in goal - Was only playing to help out.

One of the biggest mistakes parents make is believing they can advise and help their goalkeeper child, when they have never played in goal themselves. The truth is simple: if you haven’t played in goal, you cannot fully understand it.Goalkeeping is one of the most specialist, isolated, and mentally demanding positions in sport. Even well-meaning advice can unintentionally damage confidence, mindset, or a keeper’s relationship with their coach. For over 20 years, I’ve worked with thousands of goalkeepers and parents worldwide, helping families navigate the exact challenges you’re facing — confidence issues, poor coaching decisions, releases, trials, scholarships, and the pressure goalkeepers face every week. That’s why I wrote “The Ultimate Guide for Parents of Goalkeepers.” This book helps parents support properly, protect their child’s mindset, and avoid the costly advice parents make through no fault of their own. Inside, parents will learn: How to support your goalkeeper without harming confidence How to deal with coaches who don’t understand goalkeeping How to protect your child’s mindset during setbacks How to give your goalkeeper a genuine edge It also includes free bonus resources and exclusive videos.
