Hi @Oscar McKenzie-Linnell - we started as a web dev agency - its been farily successful - our marketing side is the newer part of the business but has been running in one form or another for a fair while now. Our web team is pretty dialled in - its very processed out but can be a highly complex process. Most of the vastly successful agency models I see in the market today cater to simplicity and less services rather than adding more. (scaling to say 100-500k per month with maintaining great net profit - this is only really feasible with simplicity - not adding complexity.) We will be keeping our web side but actively pulling back on scaling it due to the complexity factor for now - it's a great little earner for us and is now at a point im happy with results, team, and delivery on a recurring revenue basis, however the team required to run it optimally at my desired level of quality is quite sizable. I would ask it back to you - if your team are kicking goals in the marketing space (assuming that's what you do) why wouldn't you just simplify that and scale it massively rather than adding more complexity? If your marketing side isn't 100% dialled in with a solid acquisition funnel in place and running without you mostly, then I wouldnt add more to your plate. Also - looking forward, web dev is predicted to become more and more obsolete- within a few years prompt generated websites will likely suffice or outshine custom dev in most cases. Fine as an upsell but see above, dial in being indispensable first. Just my 2 cents :)
