Complicated or not so much?
When you feel better deeply, then the old way of compulsively reacting to feel better (food, porn, alcohol, smoking, video games) Loses its attraction and you are leveling up to freedom What if We’ve complicated addiction and depression by classifying them as diseases? And what if, instead, we focus on getting our body and mind to learn habits where your new daily inner state is deeply joyful? Then the talking is all talk, and the experience itself is freedom, no matter what the theories are

155 days sober today. Wanted to drink badly last afternoon. Tried the breathing. Tried the awareness. Wanted something that worked in 30 seconds on my phone with zero effort. What actually worked was remembering my story. 155 days. 13 years off opiates. Brain surgery. Still here. The nervous system stuff is real. But today what cut through the craving instantly was narrative. My own story. Maybe that’s the missing piece in what you’re describing — it’s not just feeling safe in the body. It’s remembering who you are while you’re in it.

Breaking Free Starts With a Different Approach
Most of us have tried willpower, accountability partners, streaks… and still found ourselves stuck in the same cycle. What’s becoming clearer to me is that it’s not about pushing harder or judging ourselves more. It’s about learning a different way to work with the body, breath, and nervous system instead of against them. When we start creating space in the body through simple practices like breathing, movement, and awareness, something begins to shift. Not overnight, but in a way that feels more stable and real. Maybe freedom isn’t about forcing change… but about learning how to actually feel safe enough inside to change. Curious to hear how others are experiencing this too.

@Isabelle Galati it’s ok to use Ai what it’s doing is organising your thoughts, everything is true
An important observation
When you simplify what people are really dealing with when we speak of addictions and depression We’re really speaking of sensations and emotional states (also sensations) that one doesn’t feel comfortable with Or maybe they are comfortable with it but want a new way of experiencing life In the end, level up how you experience the sensation and it no longer has the same control in your life. Come experience it for yourself if you’re ready to move on from past results in life. Put pressure where the discomfort is and you allow the body to loosen its grasp on how it feels and experiences those sensations.
