Thank you, @Heather Bundgaard ! I landed in the events space when a co-worker went on maternity leave and decided not to come back to work because she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. She taught me so much before leaving, and I will always be grateful for the knowledge she imparted. This was 20+ years ago, and I was showcasing medical devices in those 100' x100' booth spaces. I stayed in medical devices for 11 years before making the leap into the IT, Big Data and Analytics space. The countries that have been the most fun to work with, number 1... Sweden, unlike here in the US, where you have to hire catering to staff your specialty cocktail party in your booth to serve drinks and drive up the cost of your event spend. In Sweden, you can do it all yourself, eliminating that overhead cost, and it is SOOOO much fun to be behind a bar frantically making drinks and scanning badges for leads that get a follow-up email that reads something like Thanks for stopping by our booth during the conference party, we hope you enjoyed our Absolute cocktail.... Country number 2... Japan, the country, the people, the culture LOVE LOVE LOVE it! If I lived closer, I would cook for you!

@Xan Swenson, It is great to virtually meet you as well! Yuma is a few hours away, and it's not that big of a trek.
RED FLAGS! In your opinion: What words SCREAM "AI wrote this"?
In my opinion, the following terms and words scream that AI wrote the article/comment: - "Your insights..." - when commenting - "The brutal truth is:..." - in a post - "Your experience highlights..." - when commenting What are some words or phrases that make you wonder if the post/comment was written by ChatGPT, or human? I assume many of you will be using AI to help generate content, or content ideas, so I think it would be helpful to others to know what words/symbols are RED Flags.

@Heather Bundgaard that is a PITA for an em dash!
What if the most powerful tradeshow strategy isn’t in your booth design…
but in a simple act of kindness? Have you ever had your day completely turned around by one small, unexpected act of kindness? A stranger holding the door. A smile when you needed it most. A compliment you didn’t see coming. Those moments stick. They ripple. Now imagine the tradeshow floor. It’s loud, chaotic, and everyone’s fighting for attention. What if YOUR booth stood out not just because of your graphics or giveaways… but because of the kindness your team showed? šŸ‘‰ Helping a struggling exhibitor set-up. šŸ‘‰ Taking 2 minutes to help someone find their next session. šŸ‘‰ Remembering a name and using it with sincerity. These little gestures cost nothing. Yet they create trust, open doors, and turn strangers into loyal clients faster than any flashy giveaway. At the end of the day, people don’t just remember your booth. They remember how you made them feel. šŸ’¬ What’s the most memorable act of kindness YOU have seen (or done) at a tradeshow? Drop it below—I’d love to hear your story.

Many years ago before we had everything digitally at our fingertips with laptops or tablets and we carried round our show plans in binders, I helped my largest competitor at a major industry event. We both had 100' x 100' booth spaces right at the main entrance of the show floor, and it was the morning of day two, setup. I walked into the expo hall to be pleasantly surprised that all of the furnishings had been delivered. Shortly after I had put all of my things down, the events manager for the competitor's booth came in, and all I heard was terrified screaming. I went over to see what was going on, and she was in full-blown panic mode, melting down faster than I could blink. I ran and got her some water and when I returned there were paramedics there caring for her. I pushed my way through all the people that had gathered and grabbed her by the hand and told her it's going to be fine. I've got you, just leave your show plans with me and I'll get this all straitened out right now you need to take care of yourself. Later that afternoon her boss stopped in and thanked me for jumping in and helping out. I had the furnishing replaced with exactly what she had ordered and placed exactly where she had them laid out in her plans. So here I am buzzing around these two massive booth spaces when my boss walks in. I pulled my boss aside and told her what had happened, even though I thought she was going to be so angry with me for helping our largest competitor at this show. I could see what I thought was anger rising in her by how red her face was turning. By the time I was done telling her the events of the day she actually just hugged me and cried with me and told me, "you did the right thing."

Thank you @Heather Bundgaard ! It was a stressful show. But... what doesn't kill us makes us stronger! šŸ˜€
AI is changing tradeshows forever.
Top event pros know it. Here’s how AI is reshaping the tradeshow industry: → First, understand the pain. Tradeshows used to be slow, expensive, and hard to measure. Booth traffic was random. Leads were hit or miss. Follow-up was a mess. Now, AI is the new secret weapon. Review the 7 ways AI is transforming tradeshows: • Smart matchmaking: AI pairs buyers and sellers based on real needs, not guesswork. • Predictive analytics: AI tells you which leads are hot, and which are not. • Automated check-in: Facial recognition and QR codes speed up entry, cut lines, and boost security. • Personalized agendas: AI builds custom schedules for every attendee, so no one misses what matters. • Real-time translation: AI breaks language barriers, making global deals possible. • Chatbots: 24/7 help for attendees, no more lost or confused visitors. • Post-show insights: AI tracks every touchpoint, so you know what worked and what flopped. → Then, take action. Use these 4 quick wins: • Use AI-powered lead scanners to capture and score leads instantly. • Set up AI chatbots for your booth to answer questions and book meetings. • Analyze attendee data in real time to adjust your pitch on the fly. • Automate follow-up emails with AI, so no lead slips through the cracks. → Finally, build long-term habits. Adopt these 6 strategies to stay ahead: • Train your team on AI tools before every show. • Integrate AI data with your CRM for a full-funnel view. • Use AI to design better booth layouts based on traffic patterns. • Test new AI features at every event—never stop learning. • Partner with AI-savvy vendors for smarter logistics. • Review AI reports after every show to improve for next time. AI is not a trend. It’s the new standard. The best tradeshows are already using it. Don’t get left behind. Comment below how your company currently incorporates AI in your tradeshow booth, or what your "wish list" is.

Thanks, Heather! We should also remember that AI is revolutionizing GDPR and CCPA compliance at events by automating consent collection, monitoring data handling in real-time, reinforcing security, and simplifying reporting.

These 3 Mistakes
Can cost first-time exhibitors, six figures in lost deals. Here’s what I wish someone told me sooner. If I could give every first-time exhibitor just THREE pieces of advice, it would be this: šŸš€ 1. The trade show floor is a battlefield. If you don’t stand out, you’re invisible. Bright colors, bold messaging, and an engaging experience are key. šŸ’” 2. Just because someone stops by your booth doesn’t mean they’re a lead. Your staff MUST know how to qualify visitors. Otherwise, you’re collecting junk leads. šŸ“© 3. Your success depends on what happens AFTER the show. Don’t let your leads go cold. Have an automated follow-up sequence in place. This is just the start. Training the staff on how to qualify visitors is key! Just because they scanned someone for swag does not make them a lead.
