How would you approach??
Everyone says to elevate your basketball knowledge you must watch film! I completely agree but I am curious what do you guys look for when watching film?

I look for one thing at a time if im studying for example zooms. Then thats all im looking at and dissecting all the ways its ran with all the ways its defended along with counters to defensive action. Then I repeat with another concept or situation. Also keep a notebook with you as you watch games so you can timestamp things in a game you want to look further into.
Coaching decision
I’m curious so I want to throw this scenario out to the group. Your career goal is to become a Head Men’s basketball coach. You are next in line to become a HS Head Boys coach taking over after the current coach leaves the position. You are learning and developing under the current head coach who stills has about 4 years left of coaching. During your time the Head coaching position for Women’s Basketball team becomes available at the same school. You have a great relationship with admin, the previous coach and the players who are returning. You are a great candidate for the position. Do you go for the women’s position? What will go through your head as you wok through making that decision?

I would take the head position. This will help you see what what works for you and you get to be in the hot seat. Which leads to experience.
Weightlifting 🏋️
Kids nowadays are becoming more athletic. Back then, when I was training to become a basketball player, I was told not to go near weights because it’ll stunt growth or just bad for the young body… is this fear overblown now? And we can take kids to the weight room as long as they are taught properly? What are your thoughts?

I would recommend you start with calisthenics and getting athletes to understanding their body. You will still be able to build strength and muscle.(an example of this is gymnist). I would do pushups, pullups single legs squats just to name a few then you can add weights or bans to add resistance
Biggest Myth Currently?
What do you think is the biggest myth in modern basketball training that most players still believe?
