No Pain, No Gain!💪
I am sure we all have grown up with the catch phrase "No Pain, No Gain"! mentality. Just curious on the thought on this phrase nowadays? Is it more outdated or should we still emphasize this phrase? Is it more harmful or helpful for player development?

I definitely grew up around this phrase. Even when I got a jammed finger, my coach would say you got 9 other fingers. Or in practice, "Leg Day" especially, training to the point you can't walk properly haha (good old times). But I recently noticed in player's (children and adult) that everybody learn different. Some may learn through hand-on activity, through exhausting amount of reps, where as other learn quicker visually with small breakdown on each movement. So I've noticed that pain doesn't always mean improvement? But i do acknowledge the fact that when is comes the strength training... no pain, no gain. It is not an outdated phrase. But when it comes to skill training... i think otherwise now?

Ai
What ways do you think Ai can be help coaches and trainers?

I would say it depends on what AI you are talking about. If you are talking about ChatGPT, it can help with injury prevention and recovery or nutritional guidance... But nowadays there are crazy AI machine's where it can help analyze performance and movement analysis, such as measuring there jump and run, or can even analyze their shot mechanics
Biggest Myth Currently?
What do you think is the biggest myth in modern basketball training that most players still believe?
Weightlifting 🏋️
Kids nowadays are becoming more athletic. Back then, when I was training to become a basketball player, I was told not to go near weights because it’ll stunt growth or just bad for the young body… is this fear overblown now? And we can take kids to the weight room as long as they are taught properly? What are your thoughts?

I’ll start… I think right now it is okay for weightlifting as long as it fits in certain parameters. For example, train fast twitch muscles… the weights should be light and manageable (maybe 2.5lb dumbbell) for lunges… where I think weight training is a no go, is if they are training for strength. I think proper weightlifting for children is the to train there stability, balance and core. As for how young? I would say they can start as early as 10-12 years old
