💬 Quitting is a waste of time, because you always come back
Someone in the Accelerator said this the other day, and it stopped the whole call. They've thrown gear across a room. Walked away from music completely, more than once, convinced they were done. Every single time, they came back. So now, when the self-doubt shows up (and it shows up weekly, for all of us, no exceptions), they remind themselves that even the time they spent frustrated and convinced it was hopeless was still time spent loving the thing. Have you ever quit, even for a week, even quietly in your own head? What brought you back?

This is so true ! I’ve quit more times than I can count . Self-doubt, comparison, life… it all catches up at some point and it becomes hard to see the light. Every time I step away, I end up writing a verse to clear my thoughts , making a beat, or hearing a melody in my head I can’t stop hearing. That’s when I realize I never actually stopped loving music, I just needed time to remember why I started and where I wanna be. This road isn’t easy by any means but I think it’s worth every frustrating thought, every tear no one sees and every song / beat that no one will hear
Collab
Good morning everyone, I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I wanna start by saying I’m sorry I haven’t been as active on here lately. Grind mode has really got the best of me 😅 anyways. I am here because I wanted to share 2 new installments I had the pleasure of making with my good friend @Devante Suttles. I set a goal earlier this month to have at least 5 projects ready to pitch for sync. Let me tell you, trying to accomplish this solo was a task and a half. Collaborating has definitely helped me become more productive, but anyways without further ado here are my links for the 2 tracks. https://s.disco.ac/qypbwvjmgybt Now for some notes and feedback. My question for you guys is how are they sounding? Do they sound sync ready? Does the mix sound up to par? Is there enough variation? Does the arrangement make sense? Does the edit point sound good? Or does it sound out of place? Can’t wait to hear your feedback, and as always hope you guys have a productive week.

@Glenn Macrae appreciate you noticing the work we are putting in! Means a lot that You, @Tim Jeffcoat , and @David Goode took the time to give us honest feedback so we can work towards the goal we are trying to achieve. Only up from here
🎯 Been quiet. Fixing that now.
Building this community right means showing up consistently, and I haven't done that the last few weeks. I am fixing it starting now! I want to hear from you first. What do you actually want more of in here? Poll: What content do you want to see more of? Drop a comment too if there's something specific you're stuck on. I'm reading everything.

I wish I couldn’t pick just one . Would love to see some more of all of these to get a better understanding of what a placement should look/ sound like . Seeing examples of the community getting those wins as well would be great motivation!
What’s up yall
What’s up everyone, I’m Devante. I’m a producer, artist, and songwriter who’s been making music for a couple of years, primarily in hip-hop and related genres. Lately I’ve become really interested in sync because I love the idea of creating music that helps tell stories in film, TV, games, and commercials. My biggest goal right now is learning how the sync industry actually works. Excited to be here, learn from you all, and see where this journey takes me.

Cinematic trap
What’s going on class! Today I got a real interesting piece of work I want to share. Recently Glenn and I had a conversation that lead me to change the way I thought about sync. I use to think you had to be good at cinematic and composing and had to create the most complex and detailed track known to humanity. Now after reflecting on our conversation I realized there is so much more to sync, so much variety and different applications. I decided to try my hand and combine orchestral music with hip hop. This is what I created, I would love to hear your guys feedback. Overall I really like this track it short sweet and to the point(unlike this post😅). Few key points I would like feedback on are: The mix: how does the overall mix sound? Is the clarity there? Does it sound muddy? If so what advice would you suggest to help me get this track over the finish line. Next is the 808: I only created one 808 pattern and let the rest of track do the work to create the various. Should I reconsider and possibly add more variation to the 808? The arrangement: I opted in for a different arrangement than your traditional instrumental. It has a short intro that leads to the hook. After it heads to a verse and finishes with the final hook and a sting. From your guy’s experience does this meet the standard for sync? Finally The orchestration: does it sounds too cliché? Should I add extra cc information to further the instrumentation? I made sure to keep this as simple as possible, I have a bad tendency to over produce. I will be posting more music of this variety until I hit my goal of 10 trap orchestral projects. Enjoy. https://s.disco.ac/khlzhifgpcch
