Full-Time RV Life with Pets - What You Need to Know
One of the questions I get: "Can I bring my pet?" Yes. Absolutely yes. And you won't regret it. We travel with our German Shepherd Harley and she makes every campsite feel like home. Here's what pet owners need to know before hitting the road: CAMPGROUND PET POLICIES Most campgrounds are pet-friendly but many have restrictions:— Weight limits (common: under 25–50 lbs)— Breed restrictions (Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, German Shepherds sometimes restricted)— Leash requirements (always) Always check the campground's pet policy before booking. HEALTH & VET ACCESS Keep your pet's vaccinations current and carry copies of records. (I keep a copy on my phone) Find a nationwide vet network or use telehealth pet services for non-emergency questions. (Banfield is the most known) PetDesk and VetTriage are popular with full-timing pet owners. HOT WEATHER SAFETY Never leave pets in an RV without climate control on hot days. Period. A generator failure or shore power loss can become dangerous quickly. Invest in a remote temperature monitor with alerts. We use https://lifeintherv.com/waggle PET-FRIENDLY NATIONAL PARKS Many national parks have restrictions on pets on trails, so research ahead of time. PetFriendlyTravel.com is a helpful resource for finding pet-friendly places to visit. PETS MAKE RV LIFE BETTER The community walks, the outdoor time, the daily adventure, your pet will thrive on the road. Just plan ahead and the logistics are very manageable. 🐾 What pet would be coming with you on the adventure?

Your Full-Time RV Transition Checklist
The transition to full-time RV life has a lot of moving parts. Here's the big picture checklist to help you see everything at once: FINANCIAL PREP ✅ □ Build 3–6 months emergency fund □ Pay off or minimize high-interest debt □ Create a realistic road budget □ Establish or grow remote income □ Decide: sell house or rent it out? LEGAL & LOGISTICS ✅ □ Choose your domicile state □ Set up mail forwarding service □ Update driver's license to new domicile □ Register vehicles in new domicile state □ Research health insurance options □ Update voter registration RV SELECTION ✅ □ Define your travel style and must-haves □ Research RV types and brands □ Take a test rental trip □ Get a pre-purchase inspection on any used RV □ Secure RV insurance DOWNSIZING ✅ □ Start 3–6 months before departure □ Sell, donate, store, or toss everything that won't fit □ Digitize important documents □ Cancel subscriptions and memberships LIFE ON THE ROAD PREP ✅ □ Set up internet solution (Starlink + cell backup) □ Learn basic RV maintenance □ Join RV communities for support □ Plan first 4–6 weeks of route loosely □ Do a test overnight (or week) trip in the RV None of this has to be done all at once. One step at a time. Which box are you checking off this week? 🚐
