Still find the basic chords hard? Read this 👇
If you’re like most players I work with, you’ve learned a couple of chords… But switching between them still stops your strum. Your fingers don’t always move as fast as you want. And when you do play, it's good some days, and maybe not the next. This Friday, I’m running a LIVE zoom group class on Open Chords — and I’m going to help you: ✅ Clean up your chord shapes (no more buzzing and muting) ✅ Switch chords faster without having to think so much ✅ Understand why your fingers are actually getting stuck — and fix it Even if: – You're just starting out – You don't have much time to dedicate to guitar – You haven’t picked up the guitar in weeks, or have been on/off for years This is guitar teaching in real time — not like "easy/simple/fast" YouTube videos that you try to follow along with but leave you to figure it out on your own. Comment “CHORDS” below and I’ll send you the invite. **this class is limited to 10 spaces, 1 of which already went today, so please only book in if you are serious about showing up** Bring your guitar. We’re not just talking — we’re getting down to some playing. See you there – Dave 🎶

@Dave Donoghue it's cool, I didn't get your invite until late and I didn't really expect that the class was still open. Thanks anyway
A tip for singing and playing...
I was working with a student today in a private lesson and their singing and playing weren't syncing up... So we broke it down as follows: 1. Drill the line of chords: D A Bm A | G G A A 2. Eliminate any gaps in the chord changes e.g. the A to Bm could be tricky 3. Keep focusing on the chords & strum while briefing only "thinking" about the lyrics 4. Then do a "dance remix" type thing where you only sing the first 2-3 lyrics of the line and keep your full focus on the chord playing! ..this means we are training our brains to prioritise the chords/strum. 5. Continue to add on more lyrics bit by bit, each time you get something working, repeat it a couple of times, so you are continuously expanding out the line with solid singing and playing. Hope this helps, if you would like to me demo this on a video comment DEMO below this post and I'll do one up!

Whats the worst piece of guitar advice you've ever been given?
My fav one used to be "you need to do grades to get better at an instrument". Whats one of yours??👇

I was told I didn't have the natural talent that was needed to play guitar. I found out that wasn't true, it just takes time and practice. Glad I didn't listen to my dad.
