Part 2 of my Blog
A small business I presented to 20 months ago? Around 75% of those staff have since left. I also looked at what Victoria's new Psychological Health Regulations (December 2025) actually mean for employers because this is no longer just a values conversation. It's a legal one. But the part I want to hear your take on is this: do skills like emotional intelligence, conflict management, or psychological safety sit within your organisation's performance standards or are they invisible? Check the Blog here: https://open.substack.com/pub/danhallsco/p/the-real-cost-of-not-investing-in?r=7uinwa&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web I've left a question at the bottom of the post. Jump in there or drop your answer here What's one human skill you wish your workplace invested more in developing?

Another solid blog mate. Well done. I feel the most important aspect of managing psychosocial hazards within the workplace place is definitely the benefits your people receive from what is a good program. Unfortunately, at a government level, linking psychosocial hazards to WHS standards is going to be very very expensive from an insurance and compensation point of view. So being proactive about it definitely makes sense. There’s plenty of information within the psychosocial hazards portal to be able to adequately risk manage a safe workplace As you mentioned, it takes awesome leadership and a bit of a spend, but that spend is worthwhile.

Brilliant thoughts mate. “Your leadership isn’t tested when things are calm. It’s tested in the moment before you react.” I really really like that. Your story with the nurse who needed a hand, not another person to manage, thanks for the whole concept land really well. Definitely why these human skills matter Have a great day @Daniel HallsHappy Easter to you and your family.
What’s Your Favourite Kids Movie?
I just sat and watched the minions movie with the kids (for the 100th time) but today I just chuckled away at the movie like a kid myself. Funny movie Love the “King Bob” part. Kids chuckled when we watch it also yelling “King Bob” What’s your Kids Movie go to?

Big fan of Shrek. Good adult jokes hidden in kids humour. Particularly the second one. Donkey cracks me up.

@Stephen Mooney the goonies is still one of my favourite movies of all time. Young Josh Brolin still blows my mind considering the amount of movies he’s been in since. My eight year-old daughter watched it for the first time the other day. Now she wants to be a pirate.

@Daniel Halls @Micheal O'Dalaigh @Shawn Ziem I was actually out for a walk, trying to get some km's up for a 96km Kokoda challenge that I'm doing. A mate called me up when he saw me walk by a pub, so I went in for a sneaky schooner. It went down quite well. Really got in the way of my walk, but I managed 😉

Weekend Fun Gratitude
Family Day outs are the best. Day out at the park and the museum. Kids loved it, which made my wife and I happy, WIN/WIN! How has your weekend been so far?

We had a Defence Families day. It’s a good opportunity to meet other families. Jumping castles, trampolines, ball pit and rock climbing walls. Kids had a great time. Then took my older daughter swimming practice. She’s learning to dive and sprint today. It doesn’t matter how well she goes, she always leaves cranky, feeling she could’ve done better. So a lot of support is required following those lessons.

@Daniel Halls yeah she’s always after a treat. She normally wants Maccas but I never let her get it. She is really hard on herself, and it’s something Ash and I are really fine to manage. It’s in her personality structure.
