@Daniel Tolomei Am I correct in that we aren't quite all doing these control certifications yet? I tend to miss the live streams and sometimes skip over the beginning/ending so I wasn't sure if it was mentioned. Hah I did 2-3 of them last fall already for the (now-defunct) season 2 of the Smart Rider Drills, so I was still looking forward to doing these. Plus it gives me an excuse to pull the cones out and have some fun for a couple hours.

My ONE riding friend "doesn't like parking lot stuff", despite issues like crap emergency braking technique, trail braking with the rear brake, and coasting to a stop without simultaneously downshifting to use engine braking along with the front brake. Wish I could say something to convince him to join me in the lot. We've been as close as brothers for 30yrs+ so it's almost harder to tell him "your skills should have improved a LOT more for the time you've been riding".
Knee down on public roads
Honest question, looking for an honest answer. Why do so many sport bike riders strive for body position and getting a knee down on public streets? Of course there is the group of beginner riders that think that's "just how you do it", but I'm talking about experienced riders that do it going 20mph around an easy curve. (spoiler: The answer I'm looking for is "it's definitely more dangerous, but super fun and I can't help myself!")

@Robert Moeser I've caught a few guys adjusting body position on a big cruiser in these crash videos, which makes far more sense given the lack of lean angle available. Some of the 'tube channels that focus on big bikes talk about it quite a bit, like Jerry Paladino and MCRider

@Chris Bennett Definitely the best answer. I'm gonna memorize this
Used RESQ today
Used RESQ and ASM today while at my local Cycle Gear buying some boots. Lady in a car lost control hit a pedestrian ran through a brick retaining wall then into the side of the store.

A couple years ago I came upon a crash that just happened, near roll-over in a ditch, tires still spinning, and people still inside the car. I pulled over past them, got out, heart pounding, and really did have the "okay, am I safe here?" thought followed by "calm down good sir". As I briskly walked the block back, wondering what I would even do, the ambulance and police were already rounding the corner, so I backed off. I still wonder what I would do, as I definitely tend to have the freeze response in things like that. The fact that I even stopped and got out was surprising to me.
Something I realized and thought I'd share
When coming to a stop at an intersection like this and you're first in line try to position yourself at the green box if that particular intersection does not have a dedicated left turn lane reason being is sometimes a car will cut that corner short where the red box is especially if they are trying to beat the light they'll take the blue line rather than the purple line

Got one to add to this as well. I've found myself in this next situation and try my best to not let it happen again. Green is motorcycle in right lane. Purple is car in left lane. Red is oncoming car waiting to turn left. Red cannot see you, and starts turning immediately after purple passes. Gotta either hang back far enough, accelerate to "become one" with purple (kinda risky), or move to the left lane, all so red sees you coming... hopefully.
Experience vs. Camera view
LOL -- so I had a weird situation where someone in a white SUV who was IMO being overly aggressive in "beating me" to the red lights with traffic in front of us both, but she was in the lane next to me (yeah... i don't get that either lol). Eventually she had to get behind me to avoid a turning lane and ahead there was only a single lane. So for about 2 miles of being behind me and multiple red-lights, she got a small window of opportunity to pass and took it (aggressively) so I assume she was happy as anything that she got to get in front with the way she passed. I was glad too because she was making me nervous being next to and/or behind me. BUT when going back to the footage on the 360 to post it here, it seemed like NOTHING at all compared to the experience. LOL Anyone else have that experience? Is it just not as bad as we think it is in the moment, or does the camera distort the danger to make it seem not as bad as it really is? lol

Yea that happens to me, I had one close call that was on one of the live streams, and in the context of everything else it looked like a big nothing-burger. On the other end of the spectrum, the one crash I had sounds awful with the crunching/skidding plastic and makes my ankle swell back up just seeing it again.
