πŸ”₯ Crew Meeting Recap β€” March 18, 2026
What's up Crew! Here's what we covered today for those who couldn't make it: The Big Picture We're 43 days out from the May 1st Academy launch. That's the main focus right now β€” everything else is secondary. The weekly Crew meetings are about to level up. Once the Academy starts, every Wednesday at 11am MST will have an actual structured lesson instead of just open discussion. We built the habit of showing up β€” now we're building the structure. What's Getting Filmed I walked through the production checklist (yes, I gamified it πŸ˜‚). Here's what I'm knocking out before launch: - Street Strategies β€” city riding, parking lot awareness, mountain/highway/night riding - Smart Rider Control Drills β€” updated with the new certification system - RESQ β€” motorcycle crash response The New Book Everything is being built into one complete system: Riding Smart: The Complete Motorcycle Training System. Four modules β€” Fundamental Riding Operations, Street Strategies, RESQ Crash Response, and Smart Rider Control Drills. The Academy is what builds it all together. Certification Standards Update Quick reminder on how the drill certs work β€” no foot down, no cone contact, complete the drill by the design. Speed is NOT graded. You get 3 attempts per drill. Shoutout to Elad for already knocking out the Basic Control U-turn proficiency and showing everyone how the filming process works. πŸ’ͺ Academy Structure Shared the full 8-week breakdown. It's designed so that each week builds on the last β€” and if you need extra time, there are open weeks built in. The goal is roughly 12–16 hours total across 8 weeks. That's the same time as an MSF course, but you'll walk away with way more. The Vision Long-term, I want the Crew to become self-sustaining β€” members mentoring new riders, sharing what they've learned, and being a force for good in the community. Especially with RESQ β€” being citizen responders who can help at any crash scene, not just motorcycle ones. Tomorrow I've got a RESQ class teaching an adventure riding group's staff. After that β€” it's all production until May 1st. Let's get it. πŸ€™

@Daniel Tolomei that would be so sick I'm pretty sure if you wanted to do something like that maybe it would be possible to host it at the Rosebowl they have a HUGE parking lot where I've done a citizens academy with the local PD I'm sure you'd be able to coordinate something and use as much of the parking lot as you need to make a fun riding course along with smaller drill areas

Something I realized and thought I'd share
When coming to a stop at an intersection like this and you're first in line try to position yourself at the green box if that particular intersection does not have a dedicated left turn lane reason being is sometimes a car will cut that corner short where the red box is especially if they are trying to beat the light they'll take the blue line rather than the purple line

Chain maintenance and chain life
So I had to visit the mechanic shop today as my motorcycle’s chain felt too loose the last few weeks, and even before he actually checked it, he told me: β€œYeah, this chain is done for and needs to be replaced already”. I do remember doing around 18-20K (Kilometers) on it, so it sounds quite reasonable. Wanted to know how much do you guys ride on your chains in average.

I bought this little tool off Amazon that is universal for any bike chain but you calibrate it to your bike and it'll tell you when your chain needs to be adjusted pretty neat little tool
