Unemployment
I’ll be finishing up my last outage of the season soon in about two weeks. Can anyone post or comment a step by step on how to do the unemployment process? I am currently finishing in SC and other two outages were in NC if that helps at all. Thanks!

North Carolina is a bit higher rate per week but with only 12 weeks allowed per year which sucks. I am on Ohio (26 weeks) for reference. South Carolina is 20 weeks for a slightly less amount. I would do South. Pick some outages in better unemployment states in future is my advice
Unemployment
When I apply for unemployment, am I understanding correctly that I take the benefit in my home state?

it should not matter where you end. If you work in three states pick the highest one. I have always done this in the past.

Back to back outages have nothing to do with it. It is were you work in the prior 4 quarters that are complete. If I opened a claim today it is were I worked April May June of 2025 for q1. July August September for q2. October Nov, Dec for q3 and Jan Feb March for q4. That is basically how it works with some variance

Even Facebook’s getting in on nuclear
https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/meta-strikes-nuclear-power-agreements-with-three-companies-2026-01-09/ I’ve been wondering why the AI data centers aren’t considering a small modular reactor instead of the massive amounts of water and traditional power they’ve been using..
