Unemployment
When I apply for unemployment, am I understanding correctly that I take the benefit in my home state?

@Dave Daly Oh didn't know you could do that, but I guess that would require back to back outages or rather outages rather close so you don't have 0 income for an extended period of time
Best learning resource for Fun1
Hey guys what's the best learning resource for the Fun1? I've been studying the Fun1 practice test on this site https://fun1-test.netlify.app and I'm testing well but I don't want to get over confident from one resource. Also when do we take the NISP's? After the Fun 1 correct? Will it be on the same day mid May or later?

Do you have your Reach360 Account? I've been studying those materials, and also the Wayground quizzes, after you pass them you can take them over and over. the Fun1 and NISP tests are separated. There is a testing class coming up on the 18-20th (only need 1 day to test, but they are doing 3 days of it) and the NISP/Hands on material is in June (5 day course, though Ive read some people had a fast class and got to leave early)
RP
Hey all, currently studying for RP wanted to ask do I follow this paper or just read the whole manual ?

Hey Nik, Do both. There will be information in both that you won't find in the other, nomenclature, and phrasing that you won't be familiar with. The manual will have alot of nitty gritty details, that the Reach360 training material will break a lot of it down into consumable bites. I generally sifted through the manual , then I'd spend time on the Reach360 content, then Id go back to the manual with a better understanding and I found it made it easier to absorb the small details.
Health Insurance
Anyone have some experience on how to handle Health Insurance as an RPT with a spouse. Edit: after doing more research it looks like westinghouse offers insurance that covers you during outtakes, then when your contract ends thats a QLE which will let you apply to the Healthcare Market place. Then you bounce back to westinghouse Healthcare for your next contact. Rinse, repeat.

@Zackary Rucker Got fixated on this last night, spent about 4hrs scouring the internet using various AI's to find me answers. Its alot less complicated than it looks. You're simply going to bounce between the market place and the Westinghouse insurance. With the current state of healthcare here in America I was worried about getting raked over the coals in between seasons but I learned a few things.. 1- HSA/401k/Traditional Roth IRAs can all be deducted from your MAGI (Modified adjust gross income) so when you apply for marketplace healthcare you can "reduce" your income on paper (perfectly legal, highly recommended) 2- I learned the cliff for Subsidies for Market plans is around 84k for a married couple. So as long as you stay under 84k MAGI you get deductibles. I.E if I make 100k and I "triple stack" the HSA/401k/Traditional Roth IRA contributions to say.. 20k when I apply I can legally report my income as 80k to the marketplace. I also learned that while you can report your yearly estimated income, you can adjust your monthly to 0 between contracts (or what ever your Unemployment is.. that will be your income) this will also reduce costs of plans. 3- This is kind of off topic, but I learned HSA can be used as tax free emergency funds through "reimbursement" i.e save every itemized receipt for medical care that you get AFTER your HSA is open. Say I have 10k in HSA and I need 5k to repair my roof in an emergency, I can present 5k in receipts for things like my wifes medications, therapy, our dental / vision bills ect and we can be reimbursed that 5k, tax free. So save all your receipts and try to get itemized/as much detail on the receipts as possible. This will give you a hack to withdraw money from your HSA legally with no penalty for emergencies. 4 - Payroll contributions to things like HSA/401K/Traditional IRAs are preferred, as they will reduce your taxable income. You can still make direct contributions to your HSA and Traditional IRAs at the end of the year if you need to lower your MAGI.
Question on RP Trainees Requesting Work
Hello All, I'm in the process of training to become a junior RP tech with Westinghouse and would appreciate advice regarding reaching out and requesting work for outages in the fall, now that the fall 2026 outage schedule is available. Currently, I've been scheduled to take the FUN1 exam mid-May. My question is, when/how do I make the request to be scheduled for outages, and what should I expect? For instance, even though I'm not yet a jr RP tech, should I still proceed to request jr RP tech roles for the fall? Should I not expect to work RP this fall, given the timing, and simply request Decon roles for the time being, and then plan to request work in RP next spring? Or, should I hold off on requesting work at all until I have become task qualified (not sure about this last option, seems like a good way to miss work)? Additionally, when sending work requests to the recruiters, should I send one bulk email with all of my preferred outages and then CC all recruiters, or should I send a separate email for each outage preferences and only CC the recruiters assigned to that outage, per the outage list? Thank you in advance.

@Zackary Rucker I would definitely keep messaging her about getting access . Its 7 Units to absorb and the time between the 1st Fun1 test and the last STE is about a month and a half (rough math), you will probably want as much time as possible to start learning that information.

@Trent Almeida From what Eric said, you only need to message 1 duo. So just CC the duo in charge of your #1 on your wishlist, and they should pass the sites they aren't in charge of off to the other team.
