🎥 Live Zoom This Friday: From Foundations to Mastery
Happy Wednesday, everyone! Just a reminder that our Monthly Live Zoom Meeting is happening this Friday! Whether you are a "video game nerd" turned warrior, a 500-hour yoga pro, or even a "natural born shadowboxer" ready to master the slow-motion flow, or one of our certified graduates, I want to see you there. 🧐 📅 When: Friday at 6 PM Pacific / 9 PM Eastern 📍 Where: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83011814361?pwd=SG5wdlNLRmt6MEIyMWxtTU9hVnovdz09 What to bring: - Your Questions: No question is too "basic" or too "advanced." Whether it’s about the 24 Form mechanics or how to navigate the Skool app, we’ll cover it! - A Little Space to Move: I’m hoping to have a few of you volunteer to demonstrate a move or two! It’s a safe, supportive space to get some real-time feedback and show off your progress. I’m really looking forward to catching up with all of you, hearing about your wins, and helping you over any hurdles. See you on then!

@Janine Ma Li Weinert it is always a bonus and an honor when you are able to join us 🙏
Energy Check: An Oldie but a Goodie ⚡️
The "Force" is strong with this one... (The Chi, that is!) I’m sharing a clip today from a video that went viral with over 2.7 million views. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DV61h8hj-vN/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== It’s a great reminder that you don’t always have to practice the full Yang Style 24 Form to feel like you’re getting ahead. Sometimes, the best progress happens in the simple moments of Qi Gong and Qi/Chi work. Just like cultivating a "Tai Chi ball," these basic fundamentals build the foundation for everything else we do in our Tai Chi practice. If you’re feeling short on time this week, don't skip your practice, just simplify it. Spend five minutes with the "Tai Chi Ball" and reconnect with your flow. Prompting Question: How is your Chi flowing this week? Are you keeping it simple or diving deep into the form? Let me know in the comments! 👇

@Laura Brushey welcome! I love that you’re starting with the Horse Stance. That is the ultimate foundation for building that internal fire. Since you're a 'natural born shadowboxer,' maybe you can sneak in a little Tai Chi shadowboxing while you're holding that stance? 😉🥊It’s the perfect way to blend your natural skills with the slow, powerful flow we’re cultivating here. I'm so glad you're in the community, and I can't wait to see how you blend your warrior spirit with the flow of Tai Chi!

@Lisa Stumm mahalo for the update! I am so impressed with your dedication to your recovery. Using the 8 Brocades and foundational movements as 'physical therapy' is exactly the right way to heal with intention, and it's exactly what I aimed to do in the clinic at SOHMA Integrative Medicine. I love that you’re already planning to share the art with someone else. Starting with Tai Chi Walking and the Energy Ball is a great way to build their foundation (and rebuild yours!) without overtaxing your knee as you get back in the swing of things. Take your time, stay mindful of that recovery, and know that we are all rooting for you from across the ocean. Sending you much Aloha and strength for your business trip and your new student!

@Elvir Hurić Welcome to the community! It is great to have an engineer and fellow volleyball player with us. I love that Novak Djokovic was your inspiration to look into Tai Chi. He is a perfect example of how mindful movement and 'internal' training can take athletic performance to the next level. Your goal to become an instructor and help others is exactly why we created this program. We’re excited to help you move from reading the books to mastering the art. Welcome aboard!

@Jessie Barnes Welcome! It is great to have a 500+ hour multi-style Yoga instructor in the mix. I love that you’re looking at Tai Chi as a specialty to broaden those skills. You’ll find that your existing knowledge of alignment and breath work will give you a major head start. At the same time, the 'internal' mechanics of Tai Chi will definitely offer those new perspectives and 'advanced' layers you're looking for. I’m excited to have you in the classroom for this new adventure. Looking forward to seeing how you integrate these two powerful traditions!
Thank you
Thanks to all for your encouragement during my first zoom meeting with you. I also like what Dr Hoover said about (not a direct quote): "if you demand something of your body, your body will adapt." And so, I am demanding more.... slowly, of course. 😁

@Nancy Little, I am so glad that resonated with you! It was a pleasure having you on the Zoom call, and your 'slow and steady' approach is exactly the right way to apply that principle. What you’re experiencing is a perfect example of Wolff’s Law. In physiology, this law states that your bones and tissues will adapt to the loads under which they are placed. When you 'demand' a bit more through Tai Chi, whether it’s holding a deeper stance or finding better alignment, your body literally reorganizes its structure to become stronger and more resilient. Keep listening to your body and making those 'demands' gently. You’re doing great!
CLASS GUIDE 2025 TO 2026
(3-6-2026 -SEE BELOW FOR THE ATTACHED EMAIL TO OUR STUDENTS AT WATTS) Odie and I are working on an email to share with our students. We will discuss what we covered in 2025 with the handouts attached; and some new ideas for 2026 Tai Chi Chuan/Qigong classes. Thought you might want to do the same for the students you have taught or are teaching now. This gives something of a teaching plan for everyone. Here's most of what we sent them. ======================================================== Hello Tai Chi Family at Watts Towers. Last year we covered a lot and this year we hope to share with you some new and interesting ideas for yourself and perhaps family and friends. In the past we have gone through 24 Tai Chi Chuan, Yang Style. We have shared our personal Qigong/Exercises as well as The Eight Brocades, Five Animals and the Ten Qigong Form. Meditation Walking, Tai Chi Walking have been part of our Tai Chi Journey together. For some cardio we added some Capoeira and Maculele. We did some basic Wave Hands and hope to continue with the more advanced form of Wave Hands this year. As 2025 ended we showed you some hand qigong for improving your health as well as some cognitive hand exercises. We had hoped to do the individual videos of your Qigong, but there wasn't enough group participation to do that. Hopefully, you will be more willing to do it this year for your own health benefits. This year we want to bring in some Chess, Wave Hands, and more of what we have learned over the twenty plus years we have been learning and teaching. As a parent, I also want to send a shout out to Russell when was a teen he told me, "Mom, you shouldn't wear that, you don't look good in it anymore." I was surprised and then very thoughtful. So I joined the 24 Hour gym and got my old body back, so that he became proud of me and how I looked to him and his friends. That was a serious wakeup call for me. Odie and I hope that you are as healthy as we are when you are 77 and 88 years old. In fact we hope you are even healthier than us. We hope that you will consider becoming more involved, not just for yourself, but to share with your family and friends. Last year we had too many friends who realized at 60 years...it was nearly impossible for them to improve their health. Some are on walkers now. One can't even get out of bed by himself. Odie and I think about all those who can't get up for one reason or another and are determined to continue to do our best each and everyday possible.
