Tai Chi in Oaxaca: Sunset Flow 🌅🥋
Check out the class flow from last week! This was our third class here. There is something extra special and grounding about doing Tai Chi together as the sun sets. It reinforces the value of the work we’re doing together. I'm thinking about how to bring our global community together in person for something that goes beyond a standard vacation, and has solid training combined with some subtropical adventures like snorkeling. Watch the clip below and let me know in the comments: would you travel to Oaxaca for a deep-dive training at a place like this? 👇

Am I able to change the cc used for my fees online? Or do I need to call that in? Thanks.

Great question @Dean Goodless ! You can actually update your payment method directly through your Customer Portal online. It's the fastest and most secure way. I’ll send you a quick DM/email right now with instructions so you can swap that out easily! 🙏✨

🎥 Live Zoom Reminder: Next Friday!
Hi everyone! Just a reminder that our Live Zoom Call is happening next Friday. I can't wait to see you all there! How is everyone doing with their progress so far? I'd love to hear how your practice is going—please post an update in the group or leave a comment below to let us know how you're feeling! Please be prepared to answer these questions on the call: 1. What lesson are you on? 2. What have you learned about Tai Chi in the past month? 3. What's your number one challenge with Tai Chi at the moment? 4. What questions do you have? Special Activity: Be ready to demonstrate your favorite Tai Chi move or your least favorite move (haha)! We’ll be sharing these so we can all learn from one another, have some major breakthroughs, and some fun! If you're newer to the Tai Chi form and community and don't feel confident enough yet to share a move, don't worry about it! It's an optional activity.

Hi @Carola Zardo Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability. 🙏You are definitely not alone! In fact, we spent a good portion of our Zoom call this past Friday discussing this exact struggle! Life is naturally "hectic," and for those of us with ADHD, the "daily rush" can easily derail our best intentions. Here are a few things to keep in mind to help you find your flow again: - Release the Rush: Remember, this is a self-paced journey. The students you see in the videos met every two weeks. If you simply watch one video and practice it over a 14-day period, you are exactly on pace with the original in-person class. There is no "wagon" to fall off of. The path is right where you are. - "Habit Stacking": On our call, we discussed a concept from the book Atomic Habits. Try "stacking" Tai Chi onto something you already do daily. If you go for a walk or brew tea, add just 5 minutes of practice immediately after. It’s much easier to add to an existing habit than to create a new one from scratch. - Tai Chi in the Chaos: When the app won't open or the phone glitches, see that moment as a "game." Instead of letting it trigger stress, use it as a cue to take one Tai Chi breath or find your "Wu Chi" posture while you wait. Bring the "Way of Tai Chi" into the friction of life and see how the energy shifts. - Your Classes: It’s wonderful that you have a wave of new students! Teaching newcomers with physical limitations and "old" students at the same time is the ultimate practical for a learning instructor. Don't worry about "Seated Tai Chi" yet. Simply focus on the principles of 50/50 weight distribution and mindful breathing. If you must teach a student that is unable to stand, I tell them to shift their weight in their seat onto their “sit bones” aka ischial tuberosity. Your honesty about your current level is perfect; your students are there for your heart and your experience. You are doing great! 🦾 I'm so glad you're getting your Vitamin B shot today. That vitamin boost will help with mental focus and energy! Don't worry about missing the Zoom. We’ll see you next month. Plus, I gave you the main takeaways from the call. So now you’re caught up haha!

My Tai Chi Journey🀄
I was drawn to Tai Chi seeking a knowledge of moving meditation. As I am an ordained monk of an ancient yogic discipline, I sought a high caliber teacher. I was searching for a teacher who could teach and demonstrate the inner philosophy as well as the outer forms of Tai Chi. I found such a teacher in Dr. Daniel Hoover. I was part of, and observed him teach, groups of up to 60 people in all levels, ages and abilities, the science and art of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Each person received what they needed to grow in these ancient techniques. Dr Hoover is able to provide both individual attention and form progressive groups for advanced students. His certification course gave me a foundation that I will be building on from now forward. Learning the approaches each student entered with, was revealing as to how all encompassing and expansive this art is. As he brought us together, we were able to help and encourage each other. The teachers that assist Dr Hoover in this course are an added gem in this training. His teaching style enables each student to grow at their own pace. He imparts both enthusiasm and patience in his students. What amazed me was seeing Dr Hoover lead a large group of people in all levels and each person is able to follow him. A whole group moving together. Truly a gift to experience. His guidance has expanded my calling as a woman monastic. I now have enough proficiency to lead a group in a moving meditation. I have both martial artists, dancers and limited ability students in the same class. Dr Hoover has enabled me to offer this free meditation class as a way of paying it forward in my monastic practice. I am truly grateful. I would recommend this program to anyone who wishes to enrich and expand their life experience. Regardless of age, gender, ability or reason for entering the program, I would recommend doing this. I am very thankful I did. Respectfully, Janine Ma Li

@Gopi Janine Ma Li , I am truly humbled and moved by your words. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Coming from someone with your spiritual discipline and dedication to the yogic way, your feedback means a great deal to me. It was a profound joy to watch you integrate these ancient movements into your monastic practice. Seeing you now "pay it forward" by leading your own diverse classes is the ultimate realization of what this program is about. You brought a unique presence and grace to our cohort, and I am so grateful you chose me to guide you through this expansion of your calling. Thank you for your dedication, your wisdom, and for being such a bright light in this community. With deep respect and gratitude. 🙏🕉️
