Just the beginning
Hello everyone! I am new to TaiChi practice but not to the philosophy. I have been wanting to practice in a park with a group, but there are no groups practicing near me, so i decided i would begin my practice on my way to becoming an instructor so that i can practice with a group in the mornings at a near by park. I am a massage therapist and have some training in eastern modalities. I am excited to begin and am thankful to have you all as part of my new community! Peace🦋

Tai Chi isn’t just cool
I posted this to my personal facebook page. Daniel asked me to share it here too. I hope this is encouraging to you! “When I was in chiropractic school, one of my good friends was a Tai Chi Master and hosted classes in local parks for anyone to attend. He was so well known, there would be well over 50 people in his classes! I was so amazed at how much stronger my body felt as well as more balance I had after doing a sincle class. I had already done scientific research in my undergrad studies comparing and contrasting the impact of chiropractic adjustments and Tai Chi on reaction time (how fast a person’s nervous system reacts to change in their environment to prevent falls, injuries or car accidents). What was fascinating is they both performed equally the same! But when combined reaction time was even faster— especially for the aging population! It was then I had a desire to experience it myself. I was already under chiropractic care so it was easy to add Tai Chi to my routine. I loved the impact it had on my life and have wanted to become certified to be an instructor teaching Tai Chi Chuan in a manner that honors the history and science of this martial art form, but after moving to NC I havent been able to make it a part of my life. But now 🥁 drum roll🥁 my friend has just opened a nationally certified Instructor Certification opportunity to do just that! I am to excited and honored to get to learn this ancient art form from my dear friend Dr. Daniel Hoover! Now to get it done!!! 🎉❤️🎉❤️🎉”

Mindi! Thank you for your approach to Tai Chi story! I love your reaction time experiment! It must be interesting as a chiropractor to see the alignment tai chi supports in our bodies. I look forward to your next experiment and I hope you enjoy every step of your certification!!!!🦋
Huge Congratulations to Louis! 🏆
We are thrilled to officially announce that @Louis Carrillo has become our newest SOHMA Tai Chi Certified Instructor! Louis has long been a leader in our community, always going above and beyond to help his fellow students and instructors. Beyond our school walls, he has been a vital force in spreading Tai Chi throughout Long Beach. He has been leading at our free community classes at Heartwell Park and teaching Tai Chi at the YMCA. I even learned that he has been substitute teaching for one of our other graduates at the JCC. We are incredibly grateful to have such a high-caliber instructor and dedicated leader among our ranks. Please join us in the comments in congratulating Louis on this massive achievement! 🐉✨
Huge Congratulations to Louis! 🏆

My Tai Chi Journey🀄
I was drawn to Tai Chi seeking a knowledge of moving meditation. As I am an ordained monk of an ancient yogic discipline, I sought a high caliber teacher. I was searching for a teacher who could teach and demonstrate the inner philosophy as well as the outer forms of Tai Chi. I found such a teacher in Dr. Daniel Hoover. I was part of, and observed him teach, groups of up to 60 people in all levels, ages and abilities, the science and art of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Each person received what they needed to grow in these ancient techniques. Dr Hoover is able to provide both individual attention and form progressive groups for advanced students. His certification course gave me a foundation that I will be building on from now forward. Learning the approaches each student entered with, was revealing as to how all encompassing and expansive this art is. As he brought us together, we were able to help and encourage each other. The teachers that assist Dr Hoover in this course are an added gem in this training. His teaching style enables each student to grow at their own pace. He imparts both enthusiasm and patience in his students. What amazed me was seeing Dr Hoover lead a large group of people in all levels and each person is able to follow him. A whole group moving together. Truly a gift to experience. His guidance has expanded my calling as a woman monastic. I now have enough proficiency to lead a group in a moving meditation. I have both martial artists, dancers and limited ability students in the same class. Dr Hoover has enabled me to offer this free meditation class as a way of paying it forward in my monastic practice. I am truly grateful. I would recommend this program to anyone who wishes to enrich and expand their life experience. Regardless of age, gender, ability or reason for entering the program, I would recommend doing this. I am very thankful I did. Respectfully, Janine Ma Li
