The illusion of safety just cost me $626/month...
Got some news today. My health insurance through my day job is going from $0 to $626 per month. Allegedly my employer spent over $1 million in the last 12 months on Ozempic prescriptions alone. So now I’m eating that cost. This is the “safety” that was preached to me my entire life. “Business is risky” Get a steady paycheck with benefits. They taught us that through school. My parents told me the same. There is security in a W2. Except there’s no security at all when someone else controls your income. And your insurance. And your time. $626 a month is $7,512 a year. It’s a pay cut I have no say in… and it isn’t based on my performance. The day job feels safe because it’s familiar. What’s actually safe is building skills that make you money in any environment. Any economy. Any situation. Build the skills. As Travis says “have a little courage and a little creativity” That combination alone is your security. Not hoping if you’re a good boy or girl your employer will take care of you. I’m still at my job. For now. But my exit is right around the corner. Even if you don’t have a traditional 9-5 the same principle applies. Don’t get comfortable with any ONE source of income or any ONE person controlling your money. I’m done pretending this is the safe choice. The only real safety is being able to generate income on your own terms. Everything else is just an illusion.

HUMAN CONNECTION… Real people, not bots Scale each factor 1-10. The higher your total score the faster it sells. So what’s crushing now? Small intensive workshops (1-10 people). Virtual is good. In person is even better. It can be done in a weekend. You could sell spots for $1k, $2k, $5k, even $10k+ and it can sell out fast. Can you guess why it works so well? ✅ it’s certain (you WILL get the result) ✅ it’s doable (done with you) ✅ Fast (one weekend) ✅ Fun (another online course = 🥱) ✅ Intimate (small group) ✅ Human connection (meet real people) It hits all 6 factors. It’s always been true. But now more than ever people are lonely. Social media connected us but made us feel isolated. We’re overwhelmed by choices. Now we’re at a point we want certainty over information. People will pay a premium for transformation over information. Travis has run a few in person workshops. The pitch is basically “Fly out to Little Rock for a weekend. When you leave, you’ll have this cool xyz result.” It’s a complete offer that hits all 6 factors.

Most people THINK they know what their/their partners audience wants. They build it. Then crickets. Or they assume the market is saturated or has no money. Wrong. There are always people with money willing to throw it at you if you make the right offer. If that isn’t the case it’s because we’re not offering what they actually want. Travis teaches two simple ways to find pent up demand without guessing… Method 1: The Discussion Test Look for conversations in groups that go LONG and get people fired up. If they’re talking about something obsessively… That’s your goldmine. They want a solution. They just haven’t found one that works yet. Example: You see a thread in a Facebook/Skool group where 50+ comments are debating the best way to do X. People are frustrated. They’re trying different approaches. Nothing’s quite right. That’s pent up demand screaming at you. Method 2: The Poll Method (This is the cheat code) Don’t guess. Just ask. Takes 5 minutes to post a poll. Tells you everything you need to know. “Would you be interested in X?” If nobody bites just pivot. If they’re excited you’ve struck oil. This is how you remove all the guesswork. You’re not betting on what you THINK people want. You’re letting them tell you directly. Travis says “With a wee bit of practice: Pent up Demand + sorting/sifting = sales coming like Bing, bing, bing, bing, bing.” But you have to FIND it first. So don’t build in a vacuum. Over the last few weeks I can’t help but notice. Travis keeps bringing up this 1 thing… Whether it’s on Facebook. Here on Skool. Or anywhere else. He keeps pointing back to one big thing none of the goo-roos are talking about. The thing you can reach for when you need a quick $5k, $10k, $20k+… And it’s not about building anything from scratch (which takes forever). It’s about finding demand that’s already there sitting just under the surface. Travis calls it Pent-Up Demand. You may wonder “wtf is that?” It’s simple: It’s what people already want, but nobody’s offering. As something becomes popular it eventually gets played out. The thing that was heaven yesterday becomes hell today. People will always have something they want to escape from. For example: take someone running live events and challenges… This automatically creates demand for virtual versions. And the opposite is also true. Someone running big online events creates massive demand for small in person events with more intimacy. Someone selling courses that take months to complete creates demand for a “let’s get it done in a weekend” version. Every action creates an equal and opposite reaction. When Travis decided to offer the virtual version of his Big Ticket Email Mojo after doing it exclusively in person… he sold out 20 spots at $6K each in one day. $120K in one morning because the demand was ALREADY there. He didn’t create it. He just tapped into it. There are millions of business owners and creators out there who have pent up demand they don’t know how to tap into. Today is my 9 year wedding anniversary...
And we had a terrible day. We’ve all been sick for days. I had to go back to my day job today. My wife spent the whole day alone with 2 sick toddlers who decided today was the day to test the limits. I came home to chaos. Kids yelling. Exhausted wife. I had to go straight into enforcer mode. The rest of the night sucked. Not exactly the anniversary we planned. This is exactly why I’m building what I’m building. Not to buy fancy stuff or flex for social media. For days like today. So we can celebrate our anniversary instead of just survive it. I subscribe to the “extreme ownership” philosophy that every outcome you achieve (or don’t) is directly controlled by you. I know there are outside forces. But whether you build the life you want or not is totally up to you. And I have a lot working against me. I can make the day job excuse all I want. But that’s mine to deal with cause guess what? I’m not where I want to be yet. I AM a hell of a lot closer than I was this time last year. And it doesn’t really matter whether I have a day job or not. Because I’m not giving myself another fucking option. I will not beat my body down at a job for another 30 years. I won’t spend the rest of my life being the stressed about money dad/husband who can’t give my family the best version of me. I will put the lake in my backyard. Or I will die trying. I don’t have any other option. So here’s to 9 years with my best friend. Even on the hard days. Especially on the hard days.
