Happy FriYAY! This or That: Timing & Deadline Style Edition
Let’s have some fun! In honor of the fact that I just now remembered that it’s Friday and posting this at 8pm 😜… Timing & Deadline Edition - Early bird or fashionably late? - Start projects early or wait til deadline? - Set reminders or trust your memory? - Over-prepare or just go with it? - Sleep on it or decide immediately? - Always running on time or always scrambling?

- Early bird. Though I'm working on being less neurotic about always getting there (wherever "there" is super early) - Usually start projects early, especially if it's for someone else. Being a former teacher, I have a pretty good timesense, so I know how long something's going to take me. I'd rather be waiting on someone else than have them waiting on me. - Set reminders or trust your memory? Both. Most things live in my head, but I've learned when I need to set reminders for things (or record something on one of my many to-do lists) - Over-prepare or just go with it? I think we all know the answer to this one...overprepare, overthink, overanalyze... 😅 I'm working on it. I, too, am a work-in-progress - Sleep on it or decide immediately? I like to decide immediately, then take some time to think about it. I usually make better decisions when I'm clearheaded and not just reacting, but this way if I *have* to make a decision, I have one in mind. - Always running on time or always scrambling? *I* am always running on time. (See: teachersense.) It's the people around me who leave things to the last minute or don't judge their own timesense accordingly, and then I have to scramble to get them where they need to be when they need to be there. (I love my family, I really do. 🤐😅💜

@Michael Deibert I totally agree with overpreparing when something's new, but by the time you've done it a few times, it's like, "eh, whatever."
FriYAY! This or That: Birthday Edition
Happy Friday, all! It's almost my husband's birthday, so in honor of the (super top secret) stuff I've been prepping for him while he's been gone this week, this This or That is all about BIRTHDAYS! 🎂 Birthday Edition - Big party or intimate dinner? - Surprise or planned? - Gifts or experiences? - Cake or dessert of choice? - Make a big deal or low-key? - Day-of or weekend bash? - Tell people or keep it quiet?

@Olivia Radcliffe July 11. I get free slurpees on my birthday, which would be more exciting if they didn't taste like licking a battery. 😅

@Olivia Radcliffe Because some people like being involuntarily turned into quivering balls of anxiety and nerves? People are weird. 🤷
FriYAY This or That! Music Edition
Happy Friday, all! Time for a little This or That Music Edition - Playlist or shuffle? - Pop or rock? - Current hits or throwbacks? - Live concert or album? - Sing along or just listen? - Headphones or speaker?

- Playlist or shuffle? Depends on my mood. But I'm old school, so I still use my iPod. No streaming services for me - I want to know exactly what's playing. - Pop or rock? Sure! - Current hits or throwbacks? Weird stuff that was never popular to begin with - Live concert or album? Album - Sing along or just listen? Again, depends on my mood - Headphones or speaker? If I'm alone, speaker. If there are others nearby and/or I don't want to be bothered, headphones.
Monday...FUNDAY! 🎉
Monday doldrums? Start of the week slump? Back to the grind? Nah, let's reclaim our week! We're building something fun, something that lights us up, something that feels like our purpose. So why dread the start of the week? Now, don't get me wrong, not every day as an entrepreneur is going to feel like rainbows and glitter cupcakes with fondant unicorns on top. But that's exactly why it matters to remember why you're doing this whole "business thing" in the first place. Because once you remember the why, the to-do list stops being a list of HAVE-tos. It becomes a list of GET-tos. Same list. Completely different week. So tell me: what's one thing you GET to do this week? Drop it below 👇

@Olivia Radcliffe Let me know if your son gets stuck on any grammar concepts - I'm still a huge grammar nerd, and I'll jump on any excuse to talk about grammar or explain grammar or analyze grammar. 🤓

@Olivia Radcliffe SAME! (no DHD, but the Au is strong with this one.) Diagramming sentences and balancing chemical equations are both the best! If you want a fun intro to pre-diagramming, try a game called Sentence Smackdown. You just take a piece of paper landscape and draw a giant T chart on it. Write "subject" on the left and "verb" on the right. Then show a bunch of (simple) sentences. Use the quarter-size sticky notes, one word per note. It's best in pairs, where one person does the subjects and the other does the verbs. (And it's called Sentence Smackdown because you get to SMACK the sticky note down on the side of the chart where it goes. Kristina Smekens came up with it; she's a genius with all things literacy.)
FriYAY! This or That: Weird Hypotheticals Edition
Happy Friday! Let's have some fun and learn some fun facts about our fellow members. Weird Hypotheticals: - Always hot or always cold? - Never wear shoes or never wear socks? - Permanent bedhead or permanent hat hair? - Always whisper or always yell? - Lose all your photos or all your passwords? - Never use the internet or never leave your house? - See the future or see the past?

- Always cold. You can always put more on, but there's a limit to how much you can take off (especially in polite company) - Never wear socks. Shoes are bad, but socks are worse. And footbags are the worst of all. If I *must* wear socks, I wear toe socks. - My hair's always in a ponytail, or cut super short, so it doesn't matter either way. - If those are my options, I choose always silent - Lose all my passwords. I know myself well enough that I can usually guess them within a few tries. Or I deal with the annoyance of resetting them. But to lose all my photos? No. - Never...well...I was going to say never leave the house, because I don't get out much anyway, but the places I do go are important to me, like taekwondo, or my kid's swim class. So...magic 8 ball says ask again later. - I want to say future...but to know the future is to change it. So I'm going to go with the past. In my own past, there are plenty of things I'd like to look at with fresh eyes and current knowledge. In the distant past, I'd love to learn about all the things, so that would be fun too.
