@Pablo Montilla Yeah, you can totally create a different version (imo that's what good covers do) - but I'd still try and replicate some of that dynamics somehow, to get the tension and release going. One way of course is not to replicate the exact arrangement, sounds and/or genre of the original. It will give you a lot more to work with if you took it into a different setting altogether.

@Pablo Montilla It is very good practice indeed.
Wanted to share my Produce-a-thon Submission :)

Wanted the song to have that emotion bc that's what the vocals reminded me of. Thanks for listening :)

@Walter Wunsch Nice! So interesting to see how different everyone interprets this, even in same genre territory - and in such short time :) The only thing I would comment on is the snare and hats are very loud, and overpowers the other elements a little (probably a result of the less than ideal listening environment you mentioned :) The rest sounds very good to me.

@Solomon Planga We're all trying to get a little better on here, and I too really like getting some second opinions. Even if I don't always agree, it's always helpful to have different perspectives challenging my ears. How we grow and develop 😃 I think only the sub bass being too much (like below 40hz). I would try and control this a little already in production. It can be hard to hear these frequencies without a sub or good headphones, and it eats headroom quickly (but we all love some of those nice subby frequencies too, so must not kill it either). I think right now it overpowers the kick a bit, and I just feel it should be sitting back more. Might actually also be that 60-100hz needs a boost too. Mix wise, there might be too much mids as well, try experimenting with some cuts in the 500 and 800 range to open it up more and see what you think. This is also good to be watching out for in production because there's usually a lot going on in this area, so controlling frequencies here on individual tracks is gonna help the mix a lot.
Produce-A-Thon April '26 - My entry
In the spirit of sharing, here's what I came up with for this challenge. Quite happy overall actually with such limited time - although could do with a little more contrast and variation I think. What do you all think? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lPb3hOl4oYFCoGr2E9EEQ9aWp3XwyUzE/view?usp=sharing

@Shane Doyle Thank you :) I blame my drums, need smacking drums to get past @Chris Georgiou ;) All good, it's just a fun challenge to practice finishing a track. You never know who they'll pick from the lot - which is why I usually post here and perhaps get some feedback. Three fine finalists though, really liked the winner.

@Daniel Aufiero F major. Chords are variations over Bb, Gm7, Dm and F.
Production Workshop
Hey everybody, I’ve really been enjoying the music production workshop and how much it’s pushed me as a musician! I’ve recently discovered my love for EDM/Dance/House/Future Bass, all genres of the sort, and am using the vocal file to develop a song in those genres to expand my skills as I typically create Hip Hop songs. I’m curious to hear what genres some of you are drawn to with this vocal sample?
